RE: Anyone in the SF Bay area with a child in private school?

There are a ton of schools throughout the bay that cater specially to special needs kids, especcially aspies. I would suggest looking at some of them first. They might not give your son a typical IEP, but I doubt he would need it at such a school. I would be able to find them if you need but I would need a little while.

Private schools are not required to abide by IDEA. The IEP will have no legal

authority in a private school. That is not to say that private schools will not

work with you, some may. It is just important to remember that they are not

required to and you have no legal recourse. Some private schools are

specifically for special ed students. There are schools out there that

speciallize in Autism and Aspergers. I don't want to come accross as if I am

opposed to private school because I am not. I just wanted to explain the legal

implications.
