Guest guest
There are a ton of schools throughout the bay that cater specially to special needs kids, especcially aspies. I would suggest looking at some of them first. They might not give your son a typical IEP, but I doubt he would need it at such a school. I would be able to find them if you need but I would need a little while. This Fall we'll be embarking on the daunting (seems so to me) of applying to various private schools. I can use some advice on how the whole process works. What happens to the IEP?We have a very smart, AS son who clearly comes off as "different".Thanks, HotmailĀ® is up to 70% faster. Now good news travels really fast. Try it now. Guest guest
Private schools are not required to abide by IDEA. The IEP will have no legal authority in a private school. That is not to say that private schools will not work with you, some may. It is just important to remember that they are not required to and you have no legal recourse. Some private schools are specifically for special ed students. There are schools out there that speciallize in Autism and Aspergers. I don't want to come accross as if I am opposed to private school because I am not. I just wanted to explain the legal implications.
