Guest guest
Why does she want a refund instead of having the order replaced? That seems suspicious to me. I would be more inclined to resend the order and Make it to where she has to sign on delivery for it. She may indeed have not gotten it - if she lives at an apt. and he left it at the door someone else could have picked it up - but if that is the case I would Think she would want it reshipped and not her money back. Does your website policies cover something like this? I guess that this is something we all need to think about on how to handle something like this and incorporate it into our policies, don't you think?? Suzanne M. I have a customer, who says that they did not receive their order, Although the deliver confirmation from the post office says it was delivered. She also talked with your mail carrier and he told her that he did indeed deliver it. He set it by her apartment door. He failed to leave a yellow note in her mail box letting her know she had a package ready for delivery, But this is how they always did it and nothing has ever happened before. She feels I should just send her a refund.. What would you do? Lucinda America's Favorite Herb Shop! Guest guest
I'm sorry for her, but my opinion is that your delivery responsibility ceases once delivery has been made, which it was. You can't be responsible for thieves who may intercept the package as it sits unprotected at her front door. I think her complaint should be directed to the post office (for not leaving the yellow note). Chances are, she's never going to see this package again; but why should YOU absorb the cost? Maybe you have insurance that covers things like this. I would explain that you cannot issue a refund for something you did not lose, but perhaps you could soften the blow a bit by offering her a discount on her next order (and even that is not necessary). Guest guest
With all of the delivery confirmation information from the mailman and the post office, once that package was out of your hands there is no responsibility on your part if it was stolen from her porch. It sounds harsh, but I do not feel that you should send her a refund at all. Alice in SD How would you handle this? Guest guest
Lucinda As long as you have confirmed delivery [delivery confirmation] then it is considered delivered and you owe her nothing. If the PO messed up and left it then she should take up the matter with the PO. Most companies do not send products by registered mail whereby the customer has to sign for it because the cost is prohibitive, and thus delivery confirmation gives the seller the assurance that the package was indeed delivered and that leaves no recourse for the customer. Either someone else took the package from her apartment door or she is not telling the truth about receiving it, either way you are not liable if there is a delivery confirmation because the law is on your side in this matter. Guest guest
I help mail out my hubby's products, and almost always get a Delivery Confirmation put on whatever goes out. If it is foreign or overseas, if it doesn't get insurance, I make and keep a copy of the export form that goes on the package (the small green form, where the P.O. keeps the white half). I would just make sure that you would have delivery confirmation on the package before mailing it out. Also if the person used PayPal to pay for your product, you could use it as admissible proof that it was delivered. Also, you have to direct this complaint to the postal service, to show that it was delivered (so hang onto your half of the delivery confirmation). A post office should not lean a package up against the door of an apartment and leave it. Once, my hubby had a customer tell him that an instrument that we mailed wasn't received. My hubby had the delivery confirmation stub and did some complaint paperwork to prove that the package had been delivered. The papers went through, and indeed the package had been delivered to the correct address, and the customer called again. Dan told him he had proof that the package had been delivered, and the customer then changed his tune. Now if I get to selling some of my own products... Anita B. Guest guest
Are your parents willing to call before they leave? My husband's family wants us to call before we leave the house and we are only 30 minutes away. They too don't want their kids waiting. Apparently there typical kids don't get dressed to go out until they get our call. Pam > > On their way back north from Florida, my parents are going to be stopping in > for a few days for a visit.
