The Jewel Story

The Jewel family purchased their new KB Home in March of 1999 but by

Christmas, 2000 Carol

Jewel noticed black spots on the floors and notified KB homes. By March of

2001 when their cries to

KB Home continued to be ignored and everyone in the family was suffer the

ill effects of the mold

they filed a claim with Farmers Insurance and left their home, leaving

behind everything they owned.

Over the next months their insurance claim was overlooked, except for the

constant requests and

battles for reimbursement of their additional living expenses (ALE) that

farmers agreed to pay.

The Jewels continued paying the mortgage on their mold contaminated home,

while Farmers

continued to hold back on the reimbursements and as checks began bouncing

lost his job

when his pickup truck, which also contained his tools, was repossessed. Then

their only vehicle, a van

was vandalized and set afire.

Meanwhile, the house and the Jewel's entire positions continue to be

destroyed by mold. The

house sits with nothing done, the ALE will run out at the end of this month

and Farmers is again late

with the ALE payments. Monday, the Jewels received their final eviction

notice.
