Janet, I have a question, how do you go about getting a handicapped permit

for parking? I am to the point where I could use one, but I don't know how

to get it.....

<Editors Note: It varies from State to state slightly, but here in CT, to get a

lifetime pass you need to have a form filled out by either your rheumatologist

or your primary care physician. It can state either temporary or permanent.

Most people with arthritis say permanent- it saves a lot of trips to the DMV.

The pass costs $2 and is a heavy duty pass that hangs off the rear view

mirror- which makes it easy to take with you whatever vehicle you are traveling

in! Plates are obsolete unless you have a wheelchair van I suppose.>

Ask your rhuemy to give you one. One of the conditions on the sheet is

arthritic conditions.

Mine is only for a year. But I am hopefully optimistic that Enbrel is going

to work wonders.

It still will not take away all the damage done to the knee and hands. So

far, I have not used it. But it doesn't mean I won't.

Good luck

Kim - log on to your state's DMV - they should have a form you can download.

It's free in PA, but if you want handicapped plates, there is a fee.

plates versus placard. I chose the placard since i go out and about

in different vehicles. The placard can be used for any car you are

traveling in versus a plate that stays with one car. If you are

flaring and your family takes you out in their car you just take your

handicap placard with you and have them park close to the entrance

for you. While on vacation in California we (two brothers, myself

and a couple others)were in a rental and baby bro whipped into a

handicap spot. Other Brother, the one we were visiting hit the roof.

Starting give a lecture on the steep fines. Then baby bro hung my

placard up. We had a nice time and baby bro got a good laugh at other

bro. Siblings! PatB
