There isn't an MD/Tox in that area that I am aware of....but there is one in JAX but he refuses to consult.....he used to testify against CSX RR and got burned out. All of the toxic tort attorneys in Florida I know are using PhD toxicologists to establish the the symptoms or injuries suffered by the family are consistant with a significant exposure to a particular toxin or toxic chemical and that the symptoms expected at that level of exposure would be.......( headaches, severe fatigue, interstitial fibrosis, sinusitis, chemically induced asthma, etc. ) and then their local, and hopefully treating, MD would testify that they diagnosed them with those injuries or symptoms. The PhD toxicologist must establish a spatial and temporal corralation to the toxin or toxic chemical.... and other duties. In workers comp, an MD establishes medical causation but in third party lawsuits, a PhD can establish causation, but never diagnoses or treats patients and never testifies with "medical certainty", just "toxicological certtaiity" followed by an MD's testimony. At least that has been my experience for the last 26 years. It varies from state to state. DR. RICHARD L.
