Guest guest
Monday meeting addresses mold issues at PVHS January 25, 2002 The Nye County School District will hold an informational meeting Monday for parents and other local residents with concerns and questions about the mold contamination at Pahrump Valley High School. The meeting will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the multipurpose building at Manse Elementary School. The school is located at the corner of Road and West Street. In addition to district officials, Nye County Health Officer Maureen Budahl will be on hand to provide detailed information about the mold and the health risks associated with it. Budahl has developed a working knowledge of mold issues as a result of her involvement in the ongoing cleanup effort of mold contamination at the county complex in Pahrump. Kay , director of student services for the district, arranged Monday's meeting. She said Tom McManus, president of Environmental Health Services, Inc., may also be on hand to explain the situation. It was Las Vegas-based EHS that discovered the presence of toxic mold at the high school during sampling last week. Additional information about the specific type of mold found, Stachybotrys chartarum, and about mold in general is available on line from the national Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta. The information can be referenced free of charge at www.cdc.gov/nceh/asthma_old/factsheets/molds/default.htm. ©Pahrump Valley Times 2002 http://www.zwire.com/site/news.cfm?newsid=3089514 & BRD=1125 & PAG=461 & dept_id=9 9545 & rfi=
