My 14 year old had a hard time staying at school last year. He would always say his stomach hurt. I found out later that he was being bullied horribly. We are homeschooling this year and we are all happier.Sent on the Sprint® Now Network from my BlackBerry®From: Reel-White <sgtmama072101@...>Sender: Date: Tue, 31 Aug 2010 09:33:08 -0700 (PDT)< >Reply Subject: ( ) school and weight gain my name is and i have a 12 year old son in the 7Th grade and about 11:30 every day for the last 3 days i have gotten a call from the nurse that his stomach hurts and wants to come home , iknow better then that and i tell him to go to class , well then it justescalates from there, the first day i went and got him and he was fine when he got home, yesterday the Principal called said to come and get him or he was going to have him transferred to the Juvenal center. and he was not to return until he had a medical statement which they do have on file already, my husband and i went to the school and talked to the Principal, he has no patience with children with Aspregers. i am so frustrated with this guy . he is just like my son ,when he doesn't wantto deal with something he down right refuses to do any thing , it sure would help if we had some support from the school. He is also having problems with weight gain because of his med's. we have talked to his Dr about this and he switched his abilify to geoeon last week . i just hope this thing with school is not because of the med change, he is also on vyvanse and lexapro.

" As for the school, your child has a right to a free and public education. If he has an IEP, they have to make accommodations. Talk to them about a 1 on 1 aide. That helps a lot. If he doesn't have an IEP - get a meeting scheduled to start the process"I couldn't agree with this more! It might be at that point in the day he just needs to take a break from all the stimuli. He should not be "punished" if this is part of his disability. Check the side effects, but constipation is a side effect my daughter has from it. I make my daughter drink apple juice daily, and the stomach problems have subsided.
