Guest guest
Oh Roxanna, you made my night! LOL! Wish you could go in and tell this teacher what you think! But I don't know what good it would do as she didn't get it from the therapist. However, I think she felt like since the therapist was ONLY a licensed social worker, that she didn't know anything like a psychologist or psychiatrist would. GRRRR! I totally love 's therapist. She is young, but she does know what she's doing and loves her-and that's the best part! And this woman was fuming when we finished with the meeting. I laughed that the teacher was going to be the "talk of the office". And sure enough, she said she did go back and talk about it a little just to vent. The teacher had her thinking she didn't know anything as well! I've never seen such an idiotic teacher in my life. I've seen lazy, but this is a different lazy. And is going to suffer for it. And the guidance counselor is no help. He is so cocky that I wanted to slap him silly! He once made the comment that "HE was a guidance counselor before becoming a school counselor"! Hooray for him!!!! NOT! The assistant principal has been my only "good" source so far. But we'll see how long that lasts. -Melinda
Guest guest
Any chance you can get her to a different teacher? Guest guest
Roxanna, I think even if I could switch teachers, it would be very difficult for to make the change. Even though doesn't think much of the teacher either! I think it would be too hard on her to have other students as peers at this point. Plus, the school doesn't see things the way I do, so they wouldn't see a reason for it. I had to speak to the principal two weeks ago because was coming home telling me that she spent one afternoon "braiding" the teacher's hair and giving her a back/shoulder massage! Apparently this is not something new and her 2nd-grade teacher was into this as well. (Which I wasn't suprised about). But it wasn't acceptable for 10 year old girls AND BOYS giving massages in the middle of class! I discussed some of my issues about the teacher and, of course, the principal supported her teacher. Even went to the point of how she chooses the teachers for each student and this one was chosen especially for . Which, if the woman understood or was willing to understand 's issues, would have been somewhat good. Her personality is good in a way that didn't have to feel like she was failing to meet standards. LOL! wants to please so much she will do anything to give the right answer, the right question, etc. So, a very strict, rule-oriented teacher that wasn't forgiving and likes to yell wouldn't have been a good fit for . I know some of the other teachers for that grade and some of them tend to be "snappy". would disappear in that kind of environment. So, this teacher was good in that there is no real expectation and they are there to just have a good time! More or less. So, changing teachers at this point would not be good. I was reminded that they do "looping" now so that the 4th-grade would stay the same, but just switch to 5th-grade next year. Good in theory if the student and teacher were a good fit. But not in this case. Although the principal let me know that only one student changed teachers last year and it had nothing to do with the teacher. UGH! -Melinda
Guest guest
Of course they stick up for the teacher. Isn't that the rule with these schools? If she picked this teacher just especially for , I would ask, "Really? What about makes her and this woman a good fit?" I guess I would be interested to find out if the principal has any clue what needs. Still, you don't want her with a screamer, that I understand! Are there no good teachers there?!?!?! They picked a teacher for my 14 yo ds one year and it was just a horrible fit. I'm not sure what about this teacher made him be chosen for my ds or what the principal was thinking. Luckily, they had a sped teacher who pulled him out and smoothed over the problems areas. So it was tolerable. Can spend more time with the sped teacher? Sounds like she is behind already, so some good 1-1 time might really benefit her? At the least, write follow up letters for everything. Document that spends her educational hours giving massages. You don't have to cause problems - just a note to say, "Just wanted to confirm our conversation on (date) ....etc." You never know when things will get worse and you will want to have these little incidents documented as they add up.
