Hi Angera and all,

My rheumatologist has people on varying doses. The way he put it was this:

" Some of my patients need up to 5 mg to keep the mouth sores away "

Angera, if you are only on 1 or 2 mg of folic acid, you can safely take up to

five for the mouth sore side effect!

,

Thanks, I think I will up the doseage on the folic acid. I never even

thought of asking my Rheumy (and she never suggested) about doing this.

Then maybe I can get on with increasing the Mtx. Thanks again.

HI

i have been reading with great interest the debate about taking Folic

Acid on the same day as the MTX, and spoke to my Rheumy about it and he

told me that there is no problem.

Now for my question: Is anyone on both MTX and Enbrel for their PA? I

am very interestedin any feed back on this because I am in the midst of

making a decision on whether or not to take both meds for my stubborn

PA. I am to the point of it doing damage to the Achillies Tendons. I

know this has to be my own decision--but I would still like to hear from

others who are on either medication or both. Thanks ~~~~~irish

AuntBlabby...I am on both Enbrel and MTX for PA. I have been on Enbrel since

March and I have seen little improvement since adding it to my therapy. I

have had bronchitis twice and will probably drop the Enbrel soon. Good Luck,

Annette :)

Dear Trish,

No disrespect intended, but your doctors opinion on the folic acid is not

what is standard practice in the US.

My own physician has some people on Enbrel or Arava combined with

Methotrexate. I am just starting to take Mtx with Arava. I hated going back

on Metho- all the nausea and headaches again

and the fatigue. I upped my dose to 2 mg of folic acid six days a week, and

if that is not enough I will go to 3mg. etc...

I have also been taking Kytril or Zofran for the sevre nausea.

CTNATIVE...I am sorry the MTX makes you sick BUT I was glad to hear I am not

the only one. I hate the nausea dna headaches, but so far MTX has done the

best job of curtailing the inflammation and skin psoriasis. I have been on

Enbrel for 5 months and will ask to stop it the next visit I have with the

doctor..it has done me no good at all. Annette :)
