Guest guest
Hello Ronnie, I'm going to be taking Enbrel for my PA as soon as I can get it... I'm just courious about how many packets for mixing they give you per Rx per month or how does it all work being that you need to keep it cool? Thanks for the info about the antidepressants...I want to know what to expect when I start taking Enbrel so, I'm prepaired for it...it is always a little scarry for me when I have to start a new drug because, I know what might happen at first. Right as I got used to giving myself one needle per week , they told me I'll have to start out with three( one MTX).I have always hated needles but, now I'm having to get used to it weather I want to or not.:-( any info about Enbrel will be helpful.Take care. Guest guest
It's kept in the fridge and they give one month's worth (2 boxes with 4 treatments in each). You use it twice a week.
Guest guest
I have been on Enbrel for 5 months now and I was prescribed zoloft (but for fibromyalgia - although I have been having anxiety attacks but that is a new symptom for me). Now that makes me wonder if Enbrel could have an effect on that considering I never had anxiety attacks before. >>> ronevans@... 01/26/02 01:03AM >>> Is anyone out there on Enbrel and taking antidepressant or a seratonen uptake inhibitor drug like Zoloft or Prozac? I get 8 packets per shipment - enough for 4 weeks.
Guest guest
Hi ..The Enbrel program is simple. Most of us inject it twice a week. I do it on Mon. and Thu. evenings. Immunex sends a month supply to the pharmacy on dry ice and they keep it in the fridge until I pick it up and put it in my fridge. It must be kept at 36 to 46 degrees although I have been told by their people that it can remain at room temp for several hours without degradation. It only becomes a problem when you travel. Especially on long flights to tropical places. The needles are small and the injections are painless. At least for me. The only time it hurts is when I don't let the alcohol dry on the injection site. I've had no infections and Enbrel has given me my life back. The side effect I described in my previous post is rare and peculiar to my constitution and should in no way influence anyone to not try the program. Rgds. Ronnie E. Guest guest
Hi ...Did you start the Enbrel before or after you were on Zoloft? I was on Zoloft a couple of years ago after a dose of prednesone pushed me over the edge. I can't take prednesone. It really wakes me out. I'm thin and hyper and have had borderline generalized anxiety most of my life. I understand that Enbrel gives most people a mild euphoria. In my case it is just enough stimulant to put me just a little over the edge. I've had to cut out caffeine. I take Klonopine or Valium to take the edge off. Enbrel has been so effective that I have no choice but to tolerate the situation. Maybe I should consider Zoloft again. Rgds. Ronnie E. Guest guest
Ronnie, I started the Zoloft after the Enbrel. I never had problems with anxiety until this past year. I was actually prescribed the Zoloft for fibromyalgia, not anxiety or depression (although I think I could use some help there too). I was on the prednisone 1.5 years and was lucky to get off it for one week. I thought I was through with it then I started to flare again so I am back on it. I think the prednisone makes me mean. Everyone always jokes that I have a short fuse. I used to not be like that. Maybe it is the prednisone, maybe I have just lost my patience by feeling crappy all the time. Who knows. Guest guest
Hi ....Prednisone makes everyone mean in general. I found out that my severe reaction was far from a rare event. I took one dose and had a psychotic episode. I spent a year on Zoloft, Zanax, and Klonopin afterward. I will never take Prednisone again. Enbrel makes me feel like I've had ten cups of coffee. It makes me emotional and increases my anxiety. Most people report a mild euphoria as an effect but it is definitely more than that with me. The Klonopin helps take the edge off but it has a tendency to mess with my memory. I don't want to stop Enbrel because I am one of the lucky ones that it has put in almost complete remission. Enbrel simply gave me my hands back and stopped the torturous pain. I'm just worried, given my tendency for weird drug reactions, that adding something like Zoloft will do more harm than good. Maybe even precipitate another psychotic episode. That's why I asked the general question if anyone was even doing antidepressants concurrent with Enbrel. I am also considering weaning off Enbrel like some other posts have indicated. I have only one bad finger now and it is my right index finger. I'm right handed and I think it is being stubborn because I hold a guitar pick and work intricately and forcefully with my hands. I probably will try a Cortesone shot to the joint the next time I see the RD since it refuses to settle down like the others. In any event sometimes I feel like I could jump right out of my skin. Like I'm doing bad Coke in the 70's. It's still a good trade though. Considering the alternative. RGDS Ronnie Re: [ ] Enbrel and Antidepressants Ronnie, I started the Zoloft after the Enbrel.
