Guest guest
Hi B66F@... Never a truer word spoken! >If you have PA you will have to convince people that you may look good but feel almost dead< Again this evening one of the distant relations asked me what job I had. I told her I was on Disability, whereupon she said, " But you are walking and look well! " Rather than try and explain, I changed the subject to my Wake, which I would like to have now, rather than after I die. Reason? At this rate I will be the only mourner at my own funeral, because the rest of the family will be dead! >As he put it " when you leave do you really believe the company is going to put up a statue in you honor? " < 'tis true, 'tis true. My late Father hardly ever took his paid vacation time, believing the Company would fail without his presence! All it got him was an early grave at 63 and he never got his life long wish, to visit America. Odd then that I should go to America, albeit for a family funeral. I do not think one day passed when I thought about my Father and pondered over what his thoughts might be if he walked the Strip in Vegas, or ambled around LA. In hindsight I was the exact same. I recall The Gulf War, we had to compile a set of Company Accounts out of nothing but scrapes of paper. I work from 9am to 3am, for two weeks, in order to get these figures ready. I recall coming home at 3am, listening to what I thought was a story on BBC Radio 4. I put the kettle on, while the voices said, " We are on the seventh floor of a downtown Hotel and the night sky has lit up. As I lean out the window an exorcet missile has just gone up main street and turned left! " Then you heard the explosion. Gee this is a good story/play and it seems I missed the opening part. The telephone rang, it was a colleague from work who asked me if I had the television on. I replied no, because they is a good play on the radio. I was then told the Gulf War had just started! At this stage of my life, I was loosing the weight fast, a sure sign that the arthritis was going to get active. However I did not know then I had arthritis, if I had, do you really think I would be pulling 18 hour shifts? I enjoyed my job, I enjoyed the wages, I enjoyed the camaraderie, but let us be honest here, the most important asset in life is HEALTH! Without your health, well job, wage and camaraderie cannot be enjoyed to there fullest. 'tis a hard lesson to learn, which is probably why I now have PA! Love and God Bless Gillian ...........Natural forces within us are the true healers of disease........
