Guest guest
Hi I am on the Gaps diet so is my son who is autistic. I have read Gaps and Elaine scd book. I have been on the diet since January and cant seem to get past the basic diet of meat eggs and some veg. I have tried almond flour and pecan nut flour and goats yogurt of wich I seem to be intolerant to all. I get a distended stomach wich improved whilst on basic diet but all these foods and it distends again and also have needed 9 to 10 hours sleep for quite a few years yet if I stick to basic diet I only need about 7 hours sleep. Its amazing really I can have a few hours more a day less sleep with food. Yet with above foods sleep reverted back to 9 or 10 hours. Lost too much weight over 2 stones. Thats why I tried above foods but had to stop them. I was wondering if any one has made muffins or biscuits out of coconut flour and if any one has any recipes. Im sure coconut flour is ok on this diet. Dont think its high in calories but the fat in making muffins etc may help me put weight on. a North east uk
Guest guest
I tried some muffins andbread and pretty good. Very dense, but goid when havent had bread un long while:). There is a cookbook dedicated for recipes - can't recall name. Check out cheeseslave blog site- she has a bunch of recipes - where I found them. Other then that you could try try recipe and just sub stuff can't have- honey for sugar, diff flour etc. The recipes all had eggs though so not sure if you will find anything if you can't eat them... Good luck! Sent from my iPhoneOn May 31, 2009, at 2:19 PM, "paulaaitken" <paulaaitken@...> wrote: Hi I am on the Gaps diet so is my son who is autistic. I have read Gaps and Elaine scd book. Guest guest
Hi a, I'm Bren and new here...haven't started GAPS yet..just gearing up for it. I'm also on the group GAPShelp and there has been quite a lot of talk about recipes there recently..someone posted a sausage recipe (seems like sausage would be calorie dense)..also a recipe today for Puffy Cakes. Wondered if you might want to check out the posts there for ideas. Also, I see in your signature you are from the UK...Wanted to say my daughter married a boy from Richmond England In North Yorkshire. Don't know if that is anywhere near you, but we all fell in love with the area..just so beautiful. Was also there for Christmas 2 years ago and saw freezing fog for the first time..loved it..I'm from Maine in the US. Best of luck to you and your son on the GAPS plan. Guest guest
This has some great recipes, including coconut flour pizza crust: http://www.grainfreefoodie.blogspot.com/ I haven't used coconut flour yet, but I would think you could substitute it for nut flour in a lot of SCD recipes. Good luck, > > Hi I am on the Gaps diet so is my son who is autistic. I have read Gaps and Elaine scd book.
