Guest guest
I have strong libertarian leanings. Though the organizational power of government can do many good things it just seems BIG govt and even BIG bus abuse their power when we give it to them. Private property rights are in big trouble in this country. Its one thing if you buy into a situation where the rules are establised inside the city, or a homeowners association. That is you understand what encumbrances are on the property. But here we have a situation that because there is some water line somewhere they are going to FORCIBLY ANNEX and then subject these people to NEW rules that previously were not part of their land. I don't know who this isn't a property rights case. I don't know anything about annexation law but this is petty and riduculous. The right thing for everyone would be for the city to give them unlimited length of time to keep the horses with the whatever anti-horse ordinance they have only applying after they sell the property. Even then its a bit unfair as that would effect their property value. But that would be the right thing to do. But as usually someone is going to have to have enough money to take it up to the Supreme Court. Hopefully this situation will work out the way it should. I'm just losing faith everyday it seems in people to do the decent thing.
