Guest guest
Warning Spoiler alert for movie.. My son has decided spitting is his way of responding to stress and its driving me batty. I have tried to ignore it, to give a consequence , to discuss it etc. When he is calm he says, " i dont know why I do it" He is usually stressed or angry when he does it and he never gets a good outcome and knows it. Today I watched Phoebe in Wonderland that I had on Netflix saved for months. Not sure if anyone else has seen the movie. She also had spitting issues . ( my son has been diagnosed adhd, aspergers, mood disorder and sensory issues). Most of the movie made me cry.. ( the scene when the mom says why she is angry is so me.. sigh) anyhow they said she had tourettes at the end of the movie. Has anyone else dealt with this and is spitting related to tourettes or was this just a movie. He never spit until the past few weeks, he is 5. now it seems he wont quit. Thanks in advance if anyone has thoughts Sandy in Va
Guest guest
My daughter who is almost 14 goes through phases with what comforts her. For a while, she was actually twitching all over.. just like tourettes. She'd yank her head back and open her mouth very wide and her eyes would roll, right in front of everyone. And she's in theater.. So, I saw that movie and was struck by it, as well. Right now, she isn't head and eye rolling so much and is starting other things.. it definitely goes through phases.. but we thought the ticking thing would go on forever because it lasted for nearly a year.. Now, it seems, that's worn itself out. We see a homeopath and get a lot of help, there.. but still not as easy a client as others are for our homeopath. She always takes much longer for healing or change. For the longest time, she would pick at her skin.. at any little bump or bite or anything.. and would pick and never let it heal. It was soothing to her. She's not doing that as much right now, but it goes into whatever direction or need is there for the moment. It's so hard to watch, isn't it.... Guest guest
I remember as a boy spitting during different phase in life became cool. It can definately be habit forming. Try to nip it in the bud quickly if you see it starting.
