Plaquemines To Begin Mold Cleanup

The results of tests on fungus found at the Plaquemines Parish Detention

Center reveal the presence of toxic mold, according to a report by the W.D.

Group, which was hired to analyze the growth.

The two types of mold, Stachybotrys and Cladosporium, are present in several

areas of the building, but only in low or very low levels, the report said.

Cleanup will begin soon. The infested areas will be isolated while the work

is under way, but the various departments will continue normal operations,

Plaquemines Parish sheriff's spokesman Maj. Guey said.
