Guest guest
Why does he only attend 1 - 1/2 day....your choice? What goals changed?-- Sent from my Palm PreOn Oct 2, 2010 5:15, melody_autumn06 <melodyh2006@...> wrote: Hi: I just want to ask for your feedback. Back in June, we had an IEP for my 4 yo son with goals to be met by his school district preschool class (he was supposed to attend three 1/2 days). Anyways, now he only actually attends one 1/2 day in his special day class. Thus, the school district wants to adjust his classroom goals, since he's attending only 1/2 day instead of 3 days. Anyways, just want to check with you to see if this sounds okay and if it's okay to agree with the adjusted goals. Anything I should be aware of in this situation? Guest guest
Would you post what the current goals are so we can read them and give you input, please? Guest guest
If it was the school's decision to cut him back to one day then I would have problems with adjusting his goals. If it was your decision and the IEP was based upon a 3 day school week and now he attends only 1 day then it only makes sense to stretch out the time line for his goals. Plus most schools only have certain professionals work a partial week. If your son's schedule doesn't meet theirs then they may either want to eliminate the service for your son or have him come on the day that the professionals are at the school. Guest guest
I would say it is a blessing. The worst thing that ever happened to Karac was the public school. Karac is 18 and the only thing he has learned is what he learned at my house before he started to school. Hopefully your school is more up to date on how to teach autistic children. Guest guest
Do you mean they cut down on his special needs? Sounds fishy to me. Why did they cut it back? Budget concerns? If so , not your fault or problem. Our school district is dragging their feet with testing my son, and our school gave us little accomodations at our IEP meeting. I know its the budget, but I don't care. I will fight this all the way. Will the cut back effect your son's progress? How ;is he doing so far? Good luck, let us know Cathleen From: melody_autumn06 <melodyh2006@...> Sent: Sat, October 2, 2010 12:23:54 AMSubject: ( ) advice on IEP goal changes due to reduced attendance at SD preschool?
