Guest guest
There is a book for kids with AS called Making Sense of Sex. I think this is the book where it suggests doing a schedule of when to change your pad if you’re the type of person who would “forget.” Not in my case, but apparently this is an issue for some girls with AS. It drives me crazy but that is one small battle I don't mind dealing with now that I know it will probably continue and I won't get so exasperated wishing she would grow out of it. Just something I'll have to stay on top of. And I hate to tell you this but those of you with younger girls, it does become an issue when they start their periods too. I have to constantly remind her to take care of herself and the laundry does become a nightmare then!
Guest guest
With my daughter we have tried several things before finding out what worked for her. I could get her in the shower but she didn't always wash her hair or she would partially wash it (yes it is possible!) and I tried to stay on top of her about it but sometimes I just had too much going on with the other duties. So one night I asked for some help from her older sister and her sister hopped in the shower with her and scrubbed that child clean! Who knew that she cleaned up so well! After that I told her that if she didn't get a good bath I wold put her sister in there with her and that works! As she got older and needed deodorant I took her to the store and let her pick out her own shampoo, her own soap and her own deodorant. We had no time limits and I let her smell them all, look at the bottles and hold the bottles to see how they felt. She was very excited to use these items so bath time was not as much of a battle anymore. Vicki -- ( ) Hygiene issues Wow! Thanks so much for all the responses regarding the hygiene issue.
