Guest guest
Hello all. Went back to my dr today due to eye 'floaters' , and bell's palsy. I took alot of Lyme info with me to back me up. She did a lot of bloodwork and while I was there, she called the neurologist and he said that yes, it sounded like it probably was Lyme disease causing all of my symptoms. So I got started on Augmentin 875 mg twice a day for 28 days. The neuro doc is gonna talk with his partners to see if they think I need to be on IV drugs , I hope not, but at this point I am willing to do whatever it takes to beat these bugs! I also got all of the suppliments that Dr.B recommended. So wish me luck, I finnaly feel like I am getting somewhere with the docs and am hopefully gonna get better. Since I have not been on antibotics for longer than a week, I have not had a 'herx' When will I be getting this?? a week, 2 weeks??? Well I am rambling here! Heres to a better day tomarrow! Guest guest
Hi Deb, So glad you found a receptive doctor. That is half the battle. If I were you I would give the IV meds some consideration, as they may be the opportunity to knock those germs out of your system. It is really difficult to pin point when a herx will begin when one is on oral meds, it can be a few days to a few weeks, but you will know when it hits you, you will feel about 10 times worse than when you started the meds, so if you can, get yourself ready for some bedrest. Benedryl helps me if the symptoms are bad, as well as pain meds. If you feel too badly contact your doctor. I had floaters and the bells palsy symptoms early in my disease, very annoying, but they did go away with abx treatment, Best to you and keep us posted, Hugs, Marta NJ >From: DJinMECH@... > >Hello all. Guest guest
Are you sure it was Free T looks like Total T to me and this is dam low what are you using for TRT. You need to post your ranges when you post a test result. Any why what ever your labs range is you need to be in the upper 1/3 of the labs range for Total and Free T. Also your Dr. needs to check your Estradiol " E2 " if it is high it will keep you down on TRT. 341 is not even normal for a 100 yr. old man. Go to www.allthingsmale.com and read TRT : A Recipe for Success and the HCG Update print this out and give it to your Dr. and tell him you want to try this. I say this because I don't feel your Dr. is up on Tresting low T. or treating it I hope before you went on TRT your Dr. did all the tests in the TRT link. You need to find out why your low before going on T meds. After you go on them everything shuts down your testis stop making T and it is hard to find out why your low. If your Dr. will not work with you ask him if he will work with Dr. over the phone if he will you will be in good shape in no time. Guest guest
He did none of the tests that I asked. I read the book by Dr. Shippen and told him what all needed tested and he said it was a waste. It might of been total test but my old doc before I moved wanted my numbers around 800..this guy said once you get above 240 then you are normal. I went from 10 grams of AndroGel a day to 5 grams when I moved and got this doc because he felt 10 grams was too much. > Today I went back to the family doc and got my free testosterone > levels. Guest guest
OH and to make matters worse I have been tired in the afternoon and I use a CPAP and I said that I was wondering if the AndroGel was making my sleep apena worse and he said " No androgel has no side effect on sleep apena " but three months ago he was the one who told me that I should keep an eye out because of AndroGel and Sleep Apena > Today I went back to the family doc and got my free testosterone > levels. Guest guest
Well you do know what you need to do so do go to the files section and read Finding a Male Hormone Dr. Then go to this site and click on Find a Dr. and then put in your state. Start calling and ask questions like how many men dose the Dr. treat for low T and if he checks for the tests you feel you need also ask if he tests for high Estradiol and if one is high does he use arimidex to get and keep it down. Ask if the Dr. uses HCG to help keep the testis working because they are not getting the LH and FSH message to make more T because one is on TRT. You will know when you have found a good Dr. At this site a lot of Dr.'s singed up on it but are not up on low T. http://www.tuneupyourt.com/ Also for the latest on TRT go to this site www.allthingsmale.com and read TRT: A Recipe for Success and the HCG Update print this and tell the new Dr. you want to try this. If they are not comfortable doing this ask if they will work with Dr. over the phone. Tell them you want the best treatment you can get. Guest guest
I'll pile-on this bandwagon. You need to find a new doctor. Any doctor that knows anything about male TRT knows that being at 240+ is not the range you shoot for with TRT. Also, you need to get your medical records from your previous doc, which from the sound of it was much better for this type of problem. You might want to post your general area to see if anyone reading these has a doctor in their area that they know about. It's true that some people can do just fine at 350 or 400 test but it's not optimal and if you're shutting down your Hypothalamus Pituitary Gonadal Axis with TRT you might as well get your T into the optimal ranges rather than the bare minimums. Additionally, people who are hypogonadal usually should get their T levels into optimal ranges so the body can repair itself from the period of time when T was low (i.e. bone growth, insulin management, etc.) Proper TRT has very little affect on CPAP treated apnea. I was diagnosed with moderate/sever Apnea prior to TRT and have seen no increase in Apnea since starting TRT. I have a CPAP machine that can detect and record apnea events which I can download to my computer and review. So far no problem. I think the main worry about Apnea and TRT is for people who are not being treated with CPAP. I should say that if you feel like the Apnea symptoms are returning you may want to ask for a referral to a sleep doc and get retested. You should be re-titrated on your CPAP pressure every few years anyhow. Using a CPAP machine with recording capabilities would probably all you need to do to review your Apnea treatment though. Good Luck! > > OH and to make matters worse I have been tired in the afternoon and I > use a CPAP and I said that I was wondering if the AndroGel was making > my sleep apena worse and he said " No androgel has no side effect on > sleep apena " but three months ago he was the one who told me that I > should keep an eye out because of AndroGel and Sleep Apena > >

With respect to the 240 issue, http://www.labtestsonline.org/understanding/features/ref_ranges.html should be required reading for those subjected to the tyranny of the reference range. Guest guest
I have worked with Yale Parent and Child Clinic on helping my daughter cope with returning to school after vacations holidays and summer break. She has a gradul return plan in her IEP so there is no more anxiety for her or me. She is able to start back 2 hours a day, then increase it to half a day if she is calm and so on. We have the zoloft at 75mg but our child pscychiatrist is not willing to increase this for outburts that may be caused by anxiety. Once the panic was under control that was it for increases. She is very much in favor of behavior therapy to shape calmer behaviors than using Rispedal at this point. If you don't have a ASD behaviorist it may be helpful to you, this is considered a proven treatment for ASD kids. Guest guest
he takes citalopram right now i was kinda aginst it at first i reall didnt want my son on and ssir or any kinda antidepresnt but i skiped a few days just to see if things would change and he was s o hard to deal with but on the meds he tends to have less meltdowns we still have a few which i understand will happen his behavior is better also but he still has some major anixity and im real worried about school he has a hard time being around more than five kids at one time he has three other siblings and hes fine with that but if more than two of the nighborhood kids come down its a nightmare. Hes very high functioning and according to his kindergarten assment test he dosnt qulify for special education but if he cant control himself he will be put in to kinda isolate him so he dosnt hurt anyone but im affraid that he wont recive the kinda education that he deserves in that case but i also dont want him hurting anyone so im not sure what to do and im kinda stuck the school hes going to dosnt have any other aspies and there arnt any resources in my area so everyone kinda looks at me like what are we going do with him i have a meeting with the teacher befor school so mayby we can come up with a plan > > > > i took my son for his six week paych visit today she up his meds from 2ml to 3ml hes started haveing outburst again so were going to try and see if this will help i think he may just have some anxity about starting school in three weeks i go back on the tenth for a med recheck im hoping that one day we will leval out enough to just go every six weeks so my question is how many of you have had to change meds for your aspie and how many times also any one got any advise on how to help him adjust to starting school " i think i may have more anxity about it than he does " > > >
Guest guest
My son takes a small does of Xanax when he gets anxious or stressed. He know now when he needs it and will ask for it. It is usually when he is going out with a friend or going to a friend's house. I don't think he would be able to do it without the help. He is also on Adderall EX for ADHD. He doesn't take it much in the summer as he is not in school and the doctor wanted to give him a break. He had been on Prozac when his poppy was dying but is off it now. And he does get a small dose of Geodon at night (helps him sleep too) for his anger. He doesn't have meltdowns or cry...he just gets angry and throws things or breaks something. The Geodon has helped a lot. But, one think I know...is that you can not have your child on medicine and then stop it for a few days. SSR's and such ...you need to be weaned on. Guest guest
yeah at the time he was only on 1 ml {my son is very small for his age he only weighs 32 pounds and hes 5} so a small dose is good but i gave him a little bit less for about a week then a little less for another the smaller the dose the worse he got and then when we stoped it got to be like it was b4 so i put him back on it he seems to do better on it so i just got over i dont wnat my kid on med thing and relized that some kids {ie mine} need it in some ways i was expecting it to just help everything and i was dissapointed when he had his meltdowns or still wasnt sleeping or would still be aggressive or even his social anxity. his doc had to explain to me that the meds would just help not get rid of his spmptoms. I love his doc shes all about helping him to be comfortable we saw one doc at one point that said we had to push him into socialization or force him to look us in the eye but his new doc tells me that this is how he is and the best thing i can do is learn how to help him for me not to force him to look me in the eye that just b/c he wasnt looking didnt mean he wasnt listening or to help him with learning how to make friends not to force him that if i forced it wouldnt turn out good shes more about working with the problem than she is about fixing it weve been seeing her for about six months now and hesw jnst now started talking to her which is great considering that hes seen the exact same pedatrician since birth and he didnt start tal\king to her untill he was 3 so im ok with the meds now and im still trying to learn about AS i just hate it that there arnt any resources in my area hell even be the only kid with AS at his school so im kinda alone here in my home town but i still keep going and i finaly got to the poing where i stoped trying to make it be someting else not AS and i no longer see it as " oh no " situation and see it as a gift i wouldnt have my son be anyother way and i know hes going to be great > > > > i took my son for his six week paych visit today she up his meds from 2ml to > >3ml hes started haveing outburst again so were going to try and see if this will > >help i think he may just have some anxity about starting school in three weeks i > >go back on the tenth for a med recheck im hoping that one day we will leval out > >enough to just go every six weeks so my question is how many of you have had to > >change meds for your aspie and how many times also any one got any advise on how > >to help him adjust to starting school " i think i may have more anxity about it > >than he does " > > >
Guest guest
Probably the best place to start is the official LDN website: http://www.ldninfo.org/ That's what I did and came away with a prescription that day. It's also good to have the phone and fax of the pharmacy you want to use. K.C. > > I called my doc to ask if she prescribes LDN. She said she is not sure what it is and we can discuss it at my next visit in a couple of weeks. In the meantime, I would like to send her some information (short & sweet) and am wondering what info would be good to send. Does anybody have a recommendation? > > I have fibro & hypothyroidism.
