Guest guest
At last weeks IEP meeting the new private school for kids DIDN'T provide any Behavior Intervention Plan to address my daughter's school refusal. There is an expectation that I should reduce her anxiety with medication and with therapy. I have set that all up but I just know we won't have enough medication in place by Sept. And there has to be a behaviorist on board to support the private school. I want to ask the school district to provide a behaviorist from a joint commission the school has. Someone they used before. I know they are going to FREAK out. They are going to say we are paying $40,000 for a private school and now you want more!!! Well I will provide the private behaviorist from Yale but there has to be someone in the school to coach the teachers. I can't afford that too and I don't think it makes sense to have Yale consult over the phone with teachers and Yale has not even met my daughter. They are just providing training to me. I have a lawyer but I have exhausted my savings paying them this year. I need to just try to handle more advocating myself. How do you think I can advocate for this? The school district wrote in the IEP if attendance doesn't improve they are putting her back on home instruction. I want to ask for behaviorist join the team to meet weekly with parents at school and my daughter. And I will keep up with our private behaviorist. I want to ask for 1:1 services scheduled in the morning to extend her morning. Pam
