Guest guest
Danilo, I'm obviously not a doctor, but I know that when my sedimentation rate is low (around 8 or 9)I'm feeling well, and when I feel stiff and inflamed the sed rate gets really high. I'm not sure why your sed rate is normal even though you feel terrible. It seems strange. Sara in Los Angeles [ ] ESR in : does it rise or remains low? Best greetings at all. I'm an Italian patient affected by Psoriatic Arthritis since 1990 and still now not taking medicines. Notwithstanding my great problems (inflamation spread all inside my body) I'm continuing to have a VES -- " velocità di eritrosedimentazione " , that I think corresponds to the " Westergren erythrocyte sedimentation rate " : W-ESR-- absolutely normal (value: 8). In your knowledge, does affect also VES or does leave it normal? Many thanks in advance for whatever info on this. Best regards, Danilo D'
Guest guest
Hi Danilo. When I was first diagnosed with PA, my sedimentation rate was extremely high and I only had inflammation in one area on my left hand (on and around my middle knuckle). This past year I started having pain in many different places but my sedimentation rate was completely normal. My rheumatologist told me that was not unusual. He said that with PA there is frequently nothing that shows in the tests. Gayle
Guest guest
Had an appointment with my Rheumy today and asked her about the Sedimentation Rate (I didn't know whether she had been measuring mine or not - she had). She said the high end of normal is a persons age divided by two. So she said that in my case (age 55), my last Sed Rate of 30 was just slightly high. -- Ron
