Guest guest
http://wkbn.com/Global/story.asp?S=738288 Trumbull County The Threat of Black Mold The house on Clover Lane in Champion is empty now, the Pullin family was forced to move when black mold began growing on walls and ceilings. Neighbor Zigmont says as far as he knows no other homes have been affected here. " There are no basements here..all concrete..I don't know if it holds dampness or not. " Health officials say no -- if you have mold growing on the concrete or tile in your house that is not the toxic kind. The dangerous mold grows on wood, plaster or drywall, and insulation. Migliozzi, Director of Environmental Health for Trumbull County, says wood is often a host to black mold spores. " Mold is fungus and wood is a dead vegetable..things are going to grow on that. " Signs that your house could be right for toxic mold are leaks from the roof and around the windows. Also, if you notice drafts, humidity, and respiratory problems that fade outside the home. Trumbull County does not have a mold inspection program yet -- with help from another department, they tested the Champion house. " You could see high levels of molds on the ceilings, attic and other areas. One of the options, is the house could be destroyed. " The Trumbull County Health Board has a list of specialists you can consult, if you think you have a mold problem in your home. Call them at 330-675-2489. They are currently working on starting their own " Mold Inspection " program.
