Guest guest
Hello! Our son is 4.5yrs and I just got him to go number 2 on the potty a little over a month ago. I found a great little book for young kids called " Everyone Poops " by Taro Gomi (My Body Science Series). It has simple one sentence wording on each page and shows various types of animals pooping. It's drawn, not real life pictures. I wasn't sure about it because it appearred a little on the graphic side to me at first. But our son really got a lot from it. It shows humans near the end and baby going in diaper, older child, and adult going poop on the potty. I read this to him off and on for about 2 weeks and we talked about the story. Then I did a reward system for him. He was REALLY into the Train so I bought a few that he didn't have and told him, " If you put the poo-poo in the potty instead of in your pants you can have _______ whatever train it was. " I kept an eye out when I saw him squatting and would tell him, " If you want ______ hurry and put it in the potty " . You could use whatever interests her, puzzles, dolls, videos, etc. It took a couple of times and he did his first number 2 in the potty. I gave him a total of 4 trains then started other rewards as " treats " the sweet food you don't normally let them eat. After 2 weeks of him understanding it he kept going on his own when he was going pee. We haven't had an accident with poopy undies since. I also did a simple reward chart for a few weeks with stars for each day he went only in the potty and we hung it up. He really liked this a lot. I don't know if HE would have been ready at 3, but I wish I had known about the book sooner. You can probably find it at your library. I am still having to prompt him to go pee most of the time or he goes in his pants. But he has started going in on his own, and has learned to stop when he feels it in his pants and run to put the rest in the potty, so he's almost there with that part also. ~ P. > > hello everyone! im havin trouble potty training my youngest daughter who has as. she'll b 3 in july n we've been doin this for about 9 months. she will pee on the potty but she wont go number 2!! we r getting pretty frustrated n any advice would b gr8!!! thanx! >
