I never connected trampolines with AS, but our kids are trampoline-aholics. We got our first one in 1995 and are now wearing out our second. We also wore out our first mini-tramp. My 2yo has been a tramp freak since he could stand up. Every morning without fail he has to join me on the mini-tramp, and he's only finally now able to stand up himself (I usually hold him). He can even jump on his own but prefers to do it with me.

As for type, I noticed how much stiffer our new one is than the old one. That's important when we're both on it at the same time! This one came with handles but we've never used them.

Obviously the rhythm is soothing to them. Other than that, I can't comment on sensory issues as they're not a big deal with our kids. Tags on the back of clothing are about it, and I remember having that issue myself.
