Ask your Dr. if you might be a good candidate for an

Artificial Disc. I had one, but had other

complications afterwards. Look it up on the internet:

Charite.com (?).

Yep, I'm very familiar with this at Texas Back Institute. I have

heard mixed reviews about this (pretty much what you replied with).

Did they go through your adbomen? My understanding is they have been

doing this for years in the UK and the Tx Back Institute drs brought

it here to the US and get it FDA approved. I am interested in hearing

more about this option. To date, I have only heard negative comments

from people who have had it and drs who don't have a lot of respect

for this institution....I'm not sure what to think. I'm open to any

information. Thanks for the reply.

For the artificial disc, they only need to come in

from the front. I have met five people that have had

and they love it. I loved it too until the darn thing

broke. It's funny that you should mention that those

Dr.'s in Texas were instrumental in bringing it here.

I have met three surgeons in Las Vegas; and they all

said that they were instrumental in bringing it to the

states. Europe has been doing it for 15 years.

Maybe they are part of the same group. The person I know (our kids

went to pre-school together here in Dallas) moved to Arizona to open

another branch...perhaps they opened one in Vegas....regadless, how on

earth did one break...and how long ago was this? These are the things

that concern me, that and I have heard good and bad about the tx back

institute. I wish I knew where to get accurate information about drs

and procedures. What did you have to do when yours broke?

Hi Janet,

I agree that we need to break it down into separate issues.

In my mind these are

1) TSH; firstly the reference range and secondly the fact that TSH is

not the only indicator of thyroid function.

2) T3 treatment; synthetic T3 and Armour.

3) Adrenal issues; adrenals need to be acknowledged and treated.

I expect that we will need to chip away at each of these individually

and relentlessly. I would like to concentrate on the ones which we

have the most chance of affecting first. Any success, however small,

would boost our confidence. It would also give us something to use as

publicity and to gain recognition.

Jane

Here is a copy on what I feel happens to some men going on gels.

=========================================================================

Yes this happens a lot you start on a low starting dose 5 grams ( in your case

it was less) when your brain sees the testosterone in your blood even just a

little it slows down even stops sending the LH and FSH message to your testis to

make the Testosterone you were making. So lets say your labs for Total T were

350 you add this dose of gel your brain sees this and you lose the base level

you had before the gel.

Now lets say you need more then 5 grams most do so now all your left with is

what the gel is doing so lets say it's doing 200 so you lost 150.

The reason you feel good is your levels go up that 200 the gel is doing in the

first 2 weeks so your levels go up to 550 in theory. The brain sees this and

you fall back.

Why can this happen it might be how your putting on the gel with Androgel you

need to spread it over your upper arms and shoulders and down your back as far

as you can reach this is half of your dose then do the other side. Just spread

it over the area but don't rub it in.

The other thing is it's not getting through your skin good so you need more. If

you have a thyroid problem your skin will become thicker and gels and creams

don't get through the skin and you need to switch to shots.

I tell men when they go on Gels to retest in 2 weeks because you can end up

feeling worse. Most me just need more gel. Dr.'s that tell men to go on 5

grams of gel and come back in 8 to 12 weeks for labs don't know much about the

use of gels. Dr.'s that treat a lot of men for low T on gels see this happen

and test them again in 2 weeks.

Call your Dr. and tell him this and that your not feeling good you were but fell

back.

==========================================================================

You needed to do more labs after going up to 5 grams to be sure your levels are

going up as you can see above they can go lower. I think it's criminal to put

someone on TRT doing gels and not have them back for 8 weeks your levels were

still below the normal range. Call this Dr. and tell him your not feeling

better but worse and you read being on this low dose your brain see the T in

your blood and stops your testis from making what they were making now all your

left with is what the gel is doing and this can be the same or less then you

started with. Tell him you want to go higher on the dose say 7.5 mgs.
