Guest guest
Guys, I could really use your help. My 6 yr. old son continues with involuntary eye movements that the experts experienced in toxic mold exposure say is most likely related to the exposure. We've now seen 2 different physicians in the field and neither have taken much concern to the issue other than to say it's likely from the exposure. I've continued to be concerned over this and have no idea what doctor could help. These continual involuntary movements when previously in the mold home, were also accompanied by the head jerking downward in the opposite diagonal direction and " drawing " of the mouth on one side (all simultaneously). Once leaving the home, the head jerking and mouth " drawing " left...but the involuntary eye movements have continued for over 1 year. NOW, just last night a new very strange and worrisome occurrence happened: his eyeball literally got stuck in a downward position. He was yelling and crying that his eye was stuck. When it was checked his eyeball was extremely downward from the white of the eye. At one point the movements were thought to be nystagmus, but the opthalmologist we were referred to said it's not nystagmus, but she didn't know what it was. Before we knew of the mold exposure and were trying to find out what this was, it was speculated to be a tic disorder, then tourette syndrome, then a sign of some form of seizures, then a sign of a brain tumor. Remember...all these speculations were before knowing of exposure and by doctors not familiar with mold exposure. Now we've even been to Dr. Marinkovich, in CA, one of the best in the world for mold exposure and still have no answers on this particular symptom. Please understand, I have no problems with Dr. Marinkovich's care....I just wonder if there is enough known on eye diseases/disorders related to exposure. Can any of you refer us to anyone that may be able to help? I expect we need someone familiar with mold exposure as well as eye disorders. Maybe even a neurotoxicologist....I don't know.... I've tried to not let it concern me, but after this new occurrence my mother's instinct just tells me this is not normal. If you can refer me to anyone that you think can help guide me in the right direction PLEASE do so. If you feel the need to pass this on to someone you think can offer ideas please do so as well. I hope you can understand my concern as I don't know what this condition is, don't know if it's permanent, and don't know if it could affect his vision (or if it already does). Thank you so much for any help! Beverly __________________________________________________
