le,

Do you have or can you get from the nurse a statement with a list of all the

drugs you have already tried? Include a reason for having to stop methotrexate

or any other DMARD you were taking. My primary is not Blue Cross but they took

forever to approve the Enbrel and did so because the methotrexate irritated the

liver. Blue Cross as secondary denied Enbrel since it hasn't been approved for

PA yet. Once they deny it you can appeal it but it takes time. Beg/ask the nurse

for any documents that can be copied off to be sent to the insurance.

Do you have RA? If so state that since Enbrel has already been approved for RA

patients that had already tried other DMARDs.

You might get Enbrel approved thru doctor treatment in the office instead of the

prescription portion of Blue Cross insurance as they operate separately.

As a last resort.

Good luck,

Pat B
