Guest guest
Well, with all my talk of mysterious rashes and here we are with one. has a rash from the crook of her leg up an inch or so past her belly button. The width is from belly button to the side. On close inspection they look like very tiny blisters, but barely, they don't look yellow or crusty. Some areas are concentrated with hundreds of these dots. Since it has spread upward, the only thing I could think of was yeast, it certainly doesn't look like anything dangerous or systemic. Took her to the ped yesterday to have sinuses and ears checked, my mommy-radar for illness in her has been going off since Thursday and she's been warm, only time I took her temp was Sunday and it was 99.2 oral (well, 98.2 axillary) which is low-grade for her. Looks a little off, with extra folds and dark circles under eyes. All looked fine, ped was thinking she might have a little virus going on if anything, but he totally discounted the rash, I think he thought that was a separate issue. His comment on the rash: " Oh. I don't know what that is. That's weird " . THANKS! Heehee. So the diagnosis is officially " weird rash " ?? She has been in pull-ups for about two weeks, but this rash is only on one side. She's acting more under-the-weather today. Any thoughts? (mom to , age 3, polysaccharide antibody def)

Guest guest
, My nephew was allergic to the pull-ups. He first broke out on one side & then the other side followed. The problem my sister found was that the rash was almost impossible to get rid of. She finally had to keep him plastered in ointment & put him in cloth diapers until he was potty trained. On that note--I've recently switched Duncan over to cloth diapers--expense issues really. It's just a waste of money to buy disposables anymore. The ones I've got are terribly cute & remind me of disposables. My husband even likes them. Since we switched, Duncan has quit having diaper rash too! Guest guest
Kody gets a similar rash when he is exposed to adhesives (like Tegaderm or Band-Aids), plastics, and latex. Some pull ups do have a rubber elastic in the waist band and around the legs. Kody had a reaction like that with those, can't think of the brand just now. It does sound like an allergic reaction rash to something. Try hydrocortisone cream (although Kody had to have a prescription ointment, hydrocortisone does nothing for him). Just a thought.
