Guest guest
WISC Channel3000.com Tuesday February 19 09:56 AM EST Special Meeting Tonight About Monona School's Mold Maywood Elementary in the Monona Grove School District was tested weeks ago after a few staff members complained of sore throats and respiratory problems. Consultants found elevated mold and bacteria levels in the oldest section of the school, but they didn't find spots of mold growing inside the school, News 3 reported. A damaged roof is one of the biggest reasons for the problem, with large cracks and some structural damage, the consultants said. Remediation and plans for repair are underway. " What we need to do in addition to replacing the roof is go in and do some cleaning of univents, and duct systems that we weren't aware of before, " said Schumacher, Monona Grove School District superintendent. " But we knew one of the contributing factors was the roof. Schumacher told News 3 that all remediation can be done without the disruptions Chavez is experiencing. Meeting Tonight The district is holding a meeting tonight at Maywood Elementary in the school's gym at 6:30 p.m. Officials will answer questions and concerns from parents.
