Guest guest
I've been meaning to write ever since the first time we brought up the sun. I just finally got around to it. My youngest is 3 yrs old. He is very fair. (Strawberry blonde hair, blue eyes, blonde lashes and brows) He seems to be allergic to the sun. If there even is such a thing. The first couple times in the sun after winter, he has gotten some kind of funny rash around his "collar line" on the neck. It is not bumpy or raised. It looks more like hundreds of super tiny pin prick sized blood blisters. Also, recently he got a red bumpy rash on his arms (the part that wasn't covered by his short sleeve shirt) after being in the sun. Has anyone heard of this before? BTW, we eat plenty of fats. (Butter, fats on meat, CO, etc..) Thanks, Therese
Guest guest
My sister used to get a rash from the sun and it was called a 'sun allergy'. I finally saw it mentioned on one of the lists as a B vitamin deficiency - I can't remember which one but it may be a niacin deficiency: Niacin Deficiency Finally, a niacin skin rash may develop due to a niacin deficiency in the body. Pellagra is what occurs with this type of vitamin deficiency and in fact, skin rashes are one of the diagnostic clues for a vitamin B3 deficiency. The skin rash or painful skin flushing normally appear with sun exposure, heat exposure, or trauma to the skin. More specifically, the rash can be described as: >3.
