Hello Gillian,

Thanks for the lesson...It is confusing to me. It sounds like they are all spoiled brats and need a good dusting from their mum. I have tried to follow the history of Ireland/England thing and it takes more twists and turns. My one son can almost quote dates, who's who and so on. He has a mind like a steel trap when it comes to history. He aced an Asian history exam in college. Had all the dynasties in order and everything. His prof told him no one had ever done that before. I love history but I can't keep it all straight. When I read a good novel it is usually a historical fiction rather than a contemporary one.

I had English History in College and what we called Medevil History in High School. So I do understand what you are talking about, but it is confusing to us " Yanks " .

And the Parades Commission bannedthe March because the Orange Men refused to negotiate with Sinn Fein.So on Sunday I sat and viewed the live television coverage of the Orange Menleaving the Church and marching to the barricade. Yes the leaders had manyspeeches, all lashing out at what atrocities the IRA had committed towardsthem. In the background was a big man, very strong, bald head and I woulddescribe him as a thug. Seems he too was in prison, as he belongs to the UVF[ulster Volunteer Force] another terrorist organisation.Anyway the chief Orange Man spoke, basically said that he refused to talkwith any terrorist and demanded his legal free rights to the Queens Highway![Queen as in HRH who sits on the throne in London]However with this UVF man in the background and the Queens police force andarmy in front of him, well I found it all very confusing. In fact you couldsay that it was the Queen who had stopped the Orange Men from marching, yetaccording to them, this was the Queens Highway and they had a right toMarch!Personally I do not think the majority of Orange Men are too blame, BUT thethugs who come along looking for a fight. Like the UVF man!Now I believe I have solved the problem. I would DIG this highway UP andre-route it far away from the Church. That way they would have no Highway tomarch on, just rough land! Most of the year the barricades remain in place,so you cannot say it is a busy road.
