Guest guest
Thanks for posting that good information. That is exactly what I needed to hear about a product that doesn't have all the sugars in them,thanks...LaTonya In a message dated 6/26/00 1:40:10 PM Central Daylight Time, kanda@... writes: << o get electrolytes without the sugars or artificial colors you find in sports drinks, try Electro Mix. It's made by Alacer, the same people who make Emer'gen-C. You should be able to find it in a good health food store. One box has 5 packets in it and costs about 3 dollars. Each packets mixes with a gallon of water, so you're paying about 40 cents/gallon rather than a dollar a quart or whatever gatorade costs. Hope this helps, >>
Guest guest
Glad I could help. I was really happy to find Electro Mix for my husband. He's getting back into bike racing, so he goes through a lot of electrolyte drinks. I really didn't want him drinking the commercial sports waters, with all of their dyes and artificial flavors and sugars and junk. And as an added bonus, it's cheaper than gatorade. Take care, DWigg54545@... wrote: > > Thanks for posting that good information. Guest guest
Hazelpone, Could you share with me your information on electrolytes. Since I have a chronic illness I am always low in them. I have been taking more minerals and Gatorade. I also take Celtic salt even while fasting. Bernadette ----- Original Message ----- Hello all, Can anyone give me an explanation of what electrolytes are and/or a link that gives good information on them? God bless, KK [
Guest guest
Hi Bernadette, Also wanted to share my feelings about Gatorade.......I think it is very toxic. Full of chemicals and sugar. I really like " e-mergen-c " . It comes in these handy one packette severings and is low in sugars and carbs. Knudsen makes a healthier version of Gatorade. I can't drink much of it because it is sweet nad high in carbs, but I think it is much better than the Gatorade. Hope this info helps. Guest guest
Until last February, I never knew what the heck electrolytes were either. Then I had a stomach virus that evidently depleted something that I needed. By the time the ambulance got here, I could not move my arms and my hands were " frozen " just as you described. I also could not talk and went through about 12 hours of massive spasms, throwing up etc. My potassium and magnesium were practically non existent and I had to spend 3 days in the hospital on an IV getting things back to normal. A friend of mine's husband had a similar problem, only in the opposite way - his numbers were much higher than they should have been. Anyway... pay attention to your electrolytes - they are really serious! I had had PA and FM for over a year before this hit and it took me months to get over what happened with the electrolytes - mainly from the depression that set in when I got out of the hospital. I have finally gotten my meds straightend out (at least for this week) and I'm starting to feel more like I did before I was in the hospital. Take care, stay warm if you can! Guest guest
Hi Robin I like the Selectrolytes, but to be honest, I've found a good quality sea salt to be just as effective for me. I use Real Salt which is packed with trace minerals. one time when i was severely dehydrated and not absorbing plain water, i was getting ready to go to the ER when my dr suggested I drink at least a gallon of water mixed with sea salt and fruit juice. and eat a banana. it brought me back to life and I didnt have to go to the ER for electrolytes. my body doesnt hold on to plain water, so i have a bit of the Real Salt in every glass. i also like it with some lemon juice. i take a good mineral supplement as well. > > Hi all - where are people getting their electrolyte mixes from? Guest guest
Below is are two posts from DiscussingNT group regarding the importance of electrolytes for healing. I combined the two messages since they were from the same person and went together. http://tinyurl. com/2vs4u4Google Books is so cool... here is a tutorial about Electrolyte Balance, which I am researching at the moment. Nice for home-schooling. You will see.. just as Weston Price said.. that foods will not do much to control acid/base, but fluids like bone broth do.Things must be added to plain water to make this happen. For all you new low-carbers. . please note that plain water overload may make you feel horrible. Bone broths and some diluted fruit juice with minerals will be much better to get you over the hump. There is even a decent product out there finally that will accomplish this.. www.lytengo. com/minerals_ and_electrolytes .php This is how important Electrolyte Balance is to everyone... even medical doctors disagree about how to treat these conditions after surgery, so whatever the naturopathic community thinks about lots of plain water is deeply misguided. --tls> Electrolytes control what is called membrane traffic-which is what goes in >and out of the cells. Guest guest
i would love to hear more about the too much water thing. i've suspected that drinking too much water is not such a good thing because it would make me feel heavy and i would get sick to my stomach. now we drink coconut water, green tea, bone broths, and water, plus some diluted fresh juices with water. coconut water is very high in natural occurring electrolytes and potassium. > Below is are two posts from DiscussingNT group regarding the importance of electrolytes for healing.
