Guest guest
Hi, my name is . My DH, Chuck, introduced himself last week. We have an un-dx 13yo DD. He was asking about how to approach the subject with her.. well, we haven't (yet) but soemthing has come up this week that I would like opinions on. This week Raechel started complaining of not sleeping well. She says that it feels like holding her eyes closed is too much effort, but when she tries to relax her eyes they come open on their own. When we have checked on her- at our bedtime, in the a.m. (she's always the last one up), and when I've been up with the baby she is asleep. Yet the next morning she says she can't sleep. She's never had problems sleeping before that we know if, in fact, she seems to be the type to sleep very deeply and has always been good about going to bed. She has, though, been known to come up with physical problems that suddenly come and go. These problems- whether they be injuries or illness- tend to come up when she is over tired (such as when our evening routine gets seriously disrupted) or when she feels "left out" or ignored. That's part of why I'm not sure how seriously to take this. Does this sound like an AS thing to you? The more I read here and elsewhere about AS, the more I wonder if we are wrong in suspecting it. Anyway, TIA for your insight. )
Guest guest
I don't know if it is an Aspie thing, but my daughter does the same thing. Always says she can't sleep, yet seems to sleep well when she should be getting up. She also constantly complains about some ache or pain but I thought that was because she is around a house full of older people (over 60) who do have ailments and she is mimicing us. Maybe it is an Aspie trait. Any one else with ideas? ( ) quick intro and ? about sleep problems Hi, my name is . My DH, Chuck, introduced himself last week. We have an un-dx 13yo DD. Guest guest
My son always complains of aches and pains. I get frequent calls from school because his stomach hurts, his leg hurts, etc. I think they are very sensitive to things, and it just shows in this type of complaint. He does sleep ok, he just wakes up early.SuzanneSent on the Sprint® Now Network from my BlackBerry®From: " or Sandee Culliton" <jculliton@...>Sender: Date: Thu, 29 Jul 2010 21:12:56 -0400< >Reply Subject: Re: ( ) quick intro and ? about sleep problems I don't know if it is an Aspie thing, but my daughter does the same thing. Guest guest
That is interesting...my 8 year old son contantly complains of aches and pains. He mentions a lot that he is feeling ache and it takes a very slight fever for him to be miserable. In fact, he tends to run slight fevers a lot. He missed 16 days of school 2 years ago, all for these slight fevers with no other symptoms. I finally called the doc, but don't ya know, he had none the 3 weeks I was suppose to be keeping a temp log. It was right around the time school got out for the summer. It seems they happen more during the school year and I wonder if they are not his body's was of fighting things off??? Even yesterday he was complaing of " jolts of pain " .....yet cannot really explain where they are. I often joke with him that he is worse than a 70 year old, lol. I usually assume he is just being dramatic, but now I wonder if he does feel more pain than other kids?? ---------- Sent from my Verizon Wireless mobile phone - Re: ( ) quick intro and ? about sleep problems I don't know if it is an Aspie thing, but my daughter does the same thing.
