Guest guest Posted September 29, 2010 Report Share Posted September 29, 2010 Looking for Teens with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) Ages 13-18 to Participate in the Teens' Recreation and Activity Choices (TRAC) Study The Eunice Kennedy Shriver Center at the University of Massachusetts Medical School in Waltham, MA is looking for adolescents with ASD to participate in a research study to learn more about what teens do in their free time. A better understanding of how teens spend their free time is an important first step toward designing effective health promotion programs. TRAC Study Details: * Attend one study visit lasting approximately 2 to 2 ½ hours. (A second visit is optional.) * Teens with ASD will undergo developmental testing. * Parents complete a questionnaire and interview regarding their teens' activities. * Teens participate in an interview on how they spend their free time. * Height & weight of teens and parents are measured. * Teens' physical activity is measured over 7 days. * Parents of teens with ASD will be asked to participate in a screening visit prior to participation in the study. * Parents and teens will be compensated for their participation. * Flexible scheduling: appointments available daytime, afternoons, evenings, and weekends. * Flexible locations: study visits are available at the E.K. Shriver Center in Waltham, MA; at offices in town and Shrewsbury, MA; and at locations in other communities.
