Guest guest
Started a job working for the city in May of 2001. Noticed everyday there was a musty odor in this old building I work in. - Started getting headaches, nausea/vomiting, burning and watery eyes, skin rash on my exposed skin, runny nose, hoarseness and congestion, extreme fatigue and difficulty concentrating. -Realized I felt bad only when I was in the building. Saw damage to the ceiling and water marks. Human Resources were notified of the problem. - Took pictures. -Had someone come and test the air quality. -Results were shown to us 2 months later consisted of Cladasporium, penicillium and aspergillus. Heavy content in all office areas. Two others became ill in the meantime. I went to the doctor and a Specialist. Provided mold report to Specialist and he ran tests on me. - Told me I was highly allergic to these molds and the breakout on my exposed skin was from penicillium. His advice - Need to stay out of the building, but I have to work. He said you must have a HEPA filter in your work area then. Had my boss purchase a HEPA filter. - Next step workman's comp. I was turned down twice. In this last month - the HEPA filter has not been working as well (have to change filters every two months)my symptoms have come back. One other person is claiming workman's comp - He coughs all day and is really looking bad. I am just surprised the the " powers to be " have not done something for us knowing that we have been sick. It will be a year in June. I could look for another job, but my health is not good right now and it will take a while to be myself again. I feel angry about this and if more will start to claim workman's comp then they should reconsider mine and maybe this might get the right people's attention. Guest guest
Probably need to have an Ig and Igg done for Toxic Mold. Your symtoms may get worse and progress depending on lenght of exposure, and how much toxin you took in. It usually compromises the immune which causes a slew of other associated problems. You may have to file suit in order to get compensation, don't do it while working there. I am sorry this has happened, what state are you in? Are you being treated any different by your employer? Let us know if you wish to publish your story. Guest guest
, We had someone in our office and they monitored the air, which I was told picks up the various types of mold floating in the air and also provides a read of how much. This problem comes from a HVAC air conditioning and leaky roof. The insulation around this is solid black mold. They did not take a sample of the insulation, only monitored the air. My question is that even though a report showed a heavy content consisting of Cladasporium, penicillium and aspergillus, we still could have Stachybotrus? You had two other questions earlier I did not answer: Am I getting treated differently by my employer. My direct boss would know that I felt bad and treated me as if nothing was wrong. Told me at one point that maybe I was exaggerating about my symptoms. This mad me extremely mad, but later that day he went home feeling sick. What state am I in? - Even though a HEPA air cleaner is my work area, I have to go to other offices and have asked to stay in my area. My boss continues to call me in his office area. I have felt extremely weak for the past few days and will probably go back to the doctor again. flu like symptoms.
