Perhaps this question could best be answered by talking with those most

severely afected, the librarians who work there. If they were getting sick

before and aren't now, it is probable that you won't have problems either.

Also important is exactly which molds you are sensitized to. Moldy

basement problems, leaky roof problems, and HVAC problems all occur in their

own unique environments, and may have quite different ratios of mold

species. Thus, you may be quite sensitive to the molds to which you were

grossly overexposed, but not react to those which make others ill.

the Santa Fe, NM public library was closed for 6 months after several

employees became ill. their doctors told them to work in another building.

I don't think any patrons became ill, but likely that they could not trace

where they got ill from.

They found mold in the ventilation system. they ahve now redone the

vetnilation, heating airconditioning systems, and roo, and repainted and

recarpeted. Renovations were $1.2 million.

Would it be safe to

- visit the library?

-look at books

-take books home?

or , what questions do I need to ask to find out more?thank you, Amy
