Hi there-

Does anyone use this probiotic, I'm thinking about using it in conjunction

with our VSL.

I just can't seem to get rid of yeast. He still has red hot ears and screams all

day...

Thanks,

Rose

My son couldn't tolerate it - it made him VERY emotional. He's not

dairy-sensitive either. I have better luck w/ cheaper probiotics with

bacteria that's more commonly found in yogurt, etc.

Culturelle is perhaps one of the better studied probiotics. Culturelle contains

one strain of lactobacillus called Lactobacillus GG. It depend on what issue you

are predominantly trying to work on for your child and whether you think a multi

strain vs. a single strain would be most beneficial. We now use a multi strain

for our son to help with a broader range of issues.

Rose,

I give 2 Culterelle at bedtime. It's very good for Clostridia. Are you giving

anything else for bacteria? My daughter used to scream a lot too and I had to

give her antibacterials. OLE works very well for bacteria, but there are many

other things as well. Screaming isn't usually a sign of yeast unless yeast is

dying off. Screaming is more of a sign of bacteria. Probiotics are important and

will crowd out the bad bacteria, but you need something to kill the bad bacteria

as well.

Make sure to give any probiotics at least 2 hours away from OLE! Hope this

helps!

We loved Culturelle, easy dosing, with or w/o food and very effective.

personally i love it. i tried it with my son but it constipated him. i take it

and it keeps me regular so if you have a diarehha kid, it would probably be

great. if you fight constipation, you may not have luck with it. only one way to

find out!

He still has red hot ears and screams all day...

Hi Rose

For my son, red hot ears is not yeast but salicylate sensitivity. I have to

ask " what has he eaten or been exposed to? "

Sometimes its food - artificial colorings/flavorings are the obvious ones,

but it might be too much pineapple or some other higher salicylate food that

has tipped him over. Or it might be a strong smell - perfumes and the

smells associated with cleaning products/ air fresheners are big no-no's in

our house.

Good luck

:-)

At my house, Culturelle was relatively good for bad bacteria issues, not so good

for yeast issues.

Red hot ears sounds more like a phenol symptom

What worked best for yeast here was biotin and GSE..

I always think of phenol intolerance with red hot ears and screaming.

We've been using Culturelle for 5 years. It's one of those staple supplements

for us. My kid never had any problems with constipation though.

My son would get red ears and scream with any diary in his diet. You might

note that both VSL and Culturelle have some dairy in them.

In June, Culturelle came out with a new dairy free version. We use this well

with both of our kids, one has a true dairy allergy, the other has an IgG

sensitivity. No problems.

Try reducing the dose to 1/4 cap or lower and see if that helps. Culturelle is

pretty potent, so you may need to gradually work up to a full dose.

night. The only two new things we were giving him were Culturelle and MB12

tablets. After all your great responses/ advice we cut the MB12 in half and

he's been sleeping well for his naps and going to bed okay but still waking up

crying in the middle of the night.

dinnertime and it seems that everytime we give it to him he wakes up in the

middle of the night screaming and after many hours of trying to put him back to

sleep he wakes up in the morning with a heavy soiled diaper so I don't know if

he has stomach pains, or die-off? I tried giving him the Culterelle a little

earlier in the day but again he woke up screaming at night and with a soiled

diaper in the morning.

Should I just do Biotin instead or let his stomach get used to Culterelle?
