Guest guest
Interesting thread about ear problems: I have been suffering from burning, itching and numbness in my ears/face for several months now. Had several different opinions from different docs...MS, tmj, bacteria, etc. no one thought to test for candida and now I'm wondering if it's related to the yeast problems. What antifungals are you taking right now if I can ask? Re: ear infections I know there is a connection, several years ago I went to a natualpathic doc and she told me I had a yeast problem, and in our decussion she told me that my ear problems were probably yeast as well, I also have tmj, but anyway after six months of the diet and all the antifungles my ear problems were gone, that was several years ago, now the yeast has come back, but I am doing the diet and the antifungles again. Guest guest
Hi , right now I am taking Pau d' Arco tea, Garlic pills and Formula SF722, this is a yeast killer you can only get it from a naturalpath, but if you go liv4evr.com this is a clinic of naturalpaths in Denver colorado and they will sell it right off of there web site. Guest guest
Hi , Although I haven't had experiences with my daughter Sierra having an ear infection during a fever episode, the first year to year and a half of her life was spent dealing with ear infections. She's had two sets of tubes, which helped immensely and hasn't really had any more ear infections since about 1 1/2 years old. Then the fevers started. I've often wondered if the ear infections could be related to children that get , like one of the indicators. Sierra goes in this coming Tuesday to have her tonsills removed. I'm nervous about the procedure, but it sounds very hopeful. Take care, > Hello Everyone, > > Thank you all so much for answering my questions on fever > irregularity last week. It was very helpful. Guest guest
This just happened to us. I took Amy to the doctor because it was only 10 days since the last episode and I wanted to make sure it was not something else. The doctor said her ear was " a little pink " . She gave me a prescription and left it up to me to fill it. It turned out it was just another episode. Guest guest
Joyce, I have used coconut oil in my ear when I am coming down with an ear infection. Just recently I had the sinus infection coming on and the ear infection at the same time. My ears were starting to itch really bad.. this happens before the pain. I only had to use the coconut oil in my ear once and the itch went away. If you already have pain you might have to use it more often. Also the garlic snizzle helped me with the sinus infection. I was pretty miserable there for a day or so, but it did get better. Also make sure to *really* chug the water, as it helps clean out your system. Guest guest
Hi Joyce, There is an article in the files entitled: " Ear Treatments " (scroll down past the folders to the articles and you'll find it). In that article you'll find several ideas for things you can do for your ear infection. hth, jackie > > I understand how to care of sinus infections, but does the same protocol do okay for ear infections? Guest guest
Joyce, please see the Ear Treatment file or folder (can't remember which). You can take 4,000 mg vit. C right away, and 1,000 mgs per hour until you reach bowel tolerance (loose stools), and then back off on the amount so you don't have loose stools. Try to increase your coconut oil once a week. Guest guest
I couldn't find the beginning post on ear infections here, but I recently had one and found that food grade (very important that it's FOOD GRADE) hydrogen peroxide mixed with colloidal silver and a little water dropped into the ear--about 4 drops and hold your head to the side for a few minutes, worked really well for me. > > Right. Guest guest
I think you have to remember there are different types of ear infections. I have always had a tendency to have outer ear infections (something I attributed to ear molds on hearing aids) and have found that with my CI I still have them but not as bad. They are caused by bacterial in the ear canal and I tend to scratch my ears alot when the seasons change--I know I shouldn't but hard to break. Connie Kozlik <lisak70@...> wrote: This may seem like an obvious question, but it's one I honestly don't know the answer to. If a CI user has an ear infection, will they experience pain the same way they would if they didn't have a CI? I'm asking because the tinnitus in my right ear corresponds to my heartbeat. After doing a Google search, I learned that this is called pulsatile tinnitus and can be caused by several things -- including ear infections and blocked Eustachian tubes. For as long as I can remember, I've always had problems with blocked Eustachian tubes, but I've never had an ear infection since receiving my CIs (knock on wood!). Guest guest
There is different types of ear infections. It is depend on person and own health issues. I had experienced with it. But I never got ear infections after cochlear implant for long time but only very very rarely few times. But now this year I been got lot of ear infections and never know what is from. But my regular physchain doctor thought it might be my sinsues or allergy if it is not under controlled then found out about TMJ but chirocopractic sent me information about TMJ and it says it have syptoms about ear infection,etc... Even I have scar tissue problem like tensions too. Sometimes my regular physchain doctor found ear infections in one or both ears. I did not know I had ear infection in one ear that never pain or hurt at all but doctor found it. Sometimes I don't see doctor and never know if have ear infection. But I had experienced with ear pains but could not tell anything. My pyschain doctor told me that this time that I will never know about ear issues. We are still working on it. Sometimes my regular phsychain gave me anitboditic and sometimes not for ear infection. She do not like me to take antiboditic too much sometimes in once in while every time. My doctor started sent report of records to ENT dr about what been go on to keep update informations. I only get to see my regular physchain doctor to check ears on same day as fast to see what is going on or see chirocopractic if pain or something when I feel needed to. So it is depend on person. Hope it helps you with some. Colleen > This may seem like an obvious question, but it's one I honestly don't know > the answer to. Guest guest
Connie, Thank you for sharing your experiences. As it turns out (thankfully), I do not have an ear infection. What I've been experiencing is tinnitus which changes from one sound to another day after day (in my right ear). Depending on the sounds I hear, I seem to have two types of tinnitus in my right ear at any given time -- pulsatile tinnitus (which coincides with my heartbeat) and subjective tinnitus (which most people experience). I've already contacted my surgeon who is going to prescribe something to help me sleep. Guest guest
This may sound a bit odd and way off subject but have you considered this latest infection to be allergy related???? My niece kept getting one ear infection after another and no matter what the doctors tried it wouldn't clear up. Finally, in a last ditch effort, he sent he to an allergist and they found out the she was allergic to all corn products. By taking all the corn products from corn on the cob, cereal to gum, out of her diet for an entire year her body was able to fix itself. She's now 18 and can once again enjoy certain corn products save for a few and has never again had another ear infection. I know it sounds a little far-fetched, but I've found that sometimes it's the improbable that becomes the probable especially when it comes to health related issues. I don't know if this helps you, but it's a thought Re: Ear infections >> Hello,> I haven't been on this site for a while. I had 2 c-tomas removed from > my left ear, the last one was in 2000. Guest guest
Go see the surgeon that did the surgeries. You need a specialist to take a look and probably order scans. I have had c-toma in both ears with almost complete hearing loss in my left ear. My biggest concern would be that if it is c-toma in your right ear and the ENT doesn't catch it, you'll end up with possible hearing loss in your good ear. Ear infections Hello, I haven't been on this site for a while. I had 2 c-tomas removed from my left ear, the last one was in 2000. My question is this: Has anyone had a problem with an ear infection that just will not clear up? I have had an ear infection in my good ear for the last 7 weeks. According to my ENT, the eardrum is covered with pus. My ENT has tried several types of drops to clear up the infection, but it just isn't working. The latest thought is that the tube in my ear may be causing the infection, and will be pulled out if my ear doesn't clear up by Monday. This tube was placed about 4 years ago and has been working well up to this point. My next step is to contact the surgeon at Yale who performed my surgeries. I always worry about the possibility of getting a c-toma in this ear, as I have a severe hearing loss in my other ear from the c- tomas. Anyone else had similar problems or have any suggestions? Any help would be appreciated as I am getting seriously frustrated with my lack of hearing. Luggage? GPS? Comic books? Check out fitting gifts for grads at Search. Guest guest
Has your MD tried to culture the drainage from your " good ear " to see what antibiotic (both oral and topical) would be best? Cipro drops are very strong on some types of infection. I am allergic and therefore couldn't do that. Also, if you had c-toma...were you born with it or have many infections growing up. Had my first surgery in 1981 (I was 12) and the doc did a great job rebuilding and removing. Then I suffered until 1993 with the same ear and same trouble you describe (and was told that I was crazy and had docs " wash my ear out with water " which is how c-toma thrives (moisture) and eventually was inpatient at a psych unit because my symptoms were so severe). 1993, they did a radical mastoidectomy and tympanoplasty. In 1997, more trouble and I got the PE tube like your in. In 2001 I had the PE tube removed. I have had so much damage to my eustachian tube that it is scarred and very tiny and won't properly work. Lately, my eye twitches on the same side, I forget how to do normal procedural things that I do at work, loss of balance, head pain, abnormal sounds (like swooshing or ocean type sounds, moisture...etc) It is very disruptive to your life...get your doc to do that culture and see what it is. Maybe you have another c-toma on that side. When I have an ear infection that won't clear up...that is indicating to me that I could run the risk of having another c-toma. Also, do you hurt with it or is it just bothersome and stinky? My infections a lot of times don't hurt because of nerve damage. Get to that specialist and don't put yourself through anymore damage. Good luck to you. Metker, TX > > Hello, > I haven't been on this site for a while. I had 2 c-tomas removed from > my left ear, the last one was in 2000. Guest guest
Thank you for the advice. I am lucky to have a great ENT. He is the one who first diagnosed my c-tomas in my left ear. I know that he is on top of the situation, but like you said, I should probably go to the surgeon. I am seeing my ENT tomorrow and will definitely discuss this with him. > > >
Guest guest
Yes, he did do a culture and so far I have only been on drops. I will suggest oral antibiotics to him when I see him tomorrow (I am a nurse and he does listen to what I have to say). As for your other question, no, my ear does not hurt. I have always had numerous ear infections that usually clear up in a few days, which is why this is scaring me. I was 30 when I was diagnosed with the first c-toma and have since undergone a radical mastoidectomy with a CWD. That ear is actually doing quite well. I have never had any drainage or infections in that ear since the second c-toma was removed in 2000. Thanks for the advice. Cheryl > > > > Hello, > > I haven't been on this site for a while.
