Ok, I don't live near you, however I have a few ideas. First of all, you don't HAVE to go to the person that your doctor suggests. If you are on an HMO, you can find someone you want to use on your insurance and tell your doctor who you want to see. I would search for groups (on groups) in your area that deal with autism and seek out their advice. Aspergers/Autism can be diagnosed by psychologists, diagnosticians, LSSP (school psychologists), neurologists and developmental pediatricians. Also, your school district is required by law to conduct testing as well if there is a suspected disability. All you have to do is send a letter to the special education office stating that you believe your child has aspergers and that you give consent immediately to

begin testing to see if he has an issue. Having said that, there are many school districts that are trying to skirt around the law instead of doing what is right. Hopefully yours isn't one of them! You can go to www.wrightslaw.com to learn your rights... Good luck!!

Hi,I am new to this group. Our son has ADHD and is 9 now.His doctor now feels we are looking at the wrong thing and that he shows signs of Aspergers. The doctor had me call Monarch Therapy in Coeur D Alene Idaho for testing. They will not take our insurance.Wants us to pay up front and then have us file the paperwork with our insurance company.Call our doctor back.Got another number from him for a place in Spokane Washington Icard PLLC. I have called them 3 times now over a period of 16 days. All they have is an answering machine.I keep leaving our name and number but they do not get back to me. Mean while N is still having problems in school and at home.Mostly not stopping to think things thru. Not understanding other people have feelings and you need to let them have chance at things (answering questions, taking turns, doing things thier way and not N's way).My question? Does anyone live in the Coeur D Alene Idaho,Spokane Wshington area, and

where do your kids go for help? Our doctor says the 2 numbers he gave me are it.I need to cough up the cash or just keep calling Icard PLLC. Believe me I would pay for it out of pocket if we could, but we can't.Thanks for any help in advance.
