Stepmom of an Asperger's Child

So I just joined the group. I'm hoping to find great support and learn new

aspects of Asperger's Syndrome.

My step-son, who is 9, was just recently tested and diagnosed with Asperger's

Syndrome. Until this point his mother and I have not been very social or even

on " communication terms. " However, things have turned a 180. We speak now

almost everyday, and hopefully are developing a friendship. Instead of shutting

us now, she now involves us in his group therapy, his school IEP and any type of

medication changes that take place, including doctor visits.

With his recent diagnosis of AS I'm reading all I can and researching as much as

I can about the syndrome. If there's anyone who has been in my postion please

let me know maybe what books helped, or any advice you can give.
