" And it's not over yet, " BISD Superintendent Noe Sauceda told trustees Tuesday, alluding to costs associated with accommodating staff and students in portable buildings and other campuses, pending testing of the facilities. Sauceda anticipates at least another $1 million in costs. These costs don't include any expenses that would be required to remediate the moldy conditions. A confusing conglomerate of attorneys represents the BISD in planned litigation against the builders and designers of the conjoined schools. Sauceda suggested that the same group be used for possible litigation against the insurance companies if the district can negotiate a lower fee structure, noting that the district must now " fight the battle " with the insurance companies. " Now we need to get really serious about it, " Sauceda said. The board also asked if Jeff Roerig, the district's attorney, could represent the district in the matter. " Each time I turn around, we're hiring attorneys, " Trustee Herman Otis Powers said, asking that the board and Sauceda, " pull the plug " on that. Roerig said he could represent the district against the insurance companies but maintained that it would make better sense to run with the Harlingen firm that has worked on the issue. He did note that this is not part of the prime contract with the firm. Board trustee Randy Dunn said that the district might be obligated to remain with the Harlingen firm on this issue. " You're probably right, " Sauceda said, " but we're going to bluff it. "
