Guest guest
Thank you so much for the information. Can someone please tell me what phenol is and how it effects an autistic child. My son has been on the GFCF diet since November 1st. I don't see any difference what so ever. I've mentioned that to another mother on a different message board and she told me that I'm prob doing something wrong. But I have been extremly strict with the Gluten and Casein. I've invested a lot of research, time, and money into the diet. I wish that I could see a difference. I'm hoping that with the epson salts I will see a difference. I'm going to start doing 2 cups in a bath every night. Do I just use the epson salt I buy in the grocery store or pharmacy? I saw that someone posted that they didn't know where they could get it at. Should I be buying some special brand? > > Hi... > > We use 2 cups per bath...it seems to really calm my boys. > > Good Luck. > Carla > my first post > > > I've read all of your posts but I haven't started any enzymes for my > PDD ADHD 7 year old son. Guest guest
I have had my son on gf/cf for about the same time and I wasn't noticing anything either. Quite a few people told me it can take up to 6 months to see results. I began to notice that when my son drank friut juice, or had applesauce and bananas he becomes very hyper. That is phenol reaction I believe. I looked up the Feingold diet and saw all the items that I'd been feeding him since going gf/cf were high in phenols. I felt like ripping my hair out and after a week of restricting his diet to a few foods I said " enough " and began giving him No-Fenol, and Peptizyde enzymes and expanded his diet. I can't tell you how his appetite took off. He eats foods now that he would never touch before we went gf/cf (vegetables, meat. etc.) For the last week I have been giving him mostly organic foods that contain wheat and dairy with heavy doses of enzymes before each meal. I have not noticed any negative reaction and as a matter of fact I think he's doing better. I still don't give friut juice or applesauce, but I let him have bananas. Above all else I give him NOTHING with artificial colors or flavors! > > Thank you so much for the information. Can someone please tell me > what phenol is and how it effects an autistic child. Info here. http://www.danasview.net/phenol.htm >>My son has been > on the GFCF diet since November 1st. I don't see any difference what > so ever. My son tolerated nothing, but with HNI enzymes, he could eat gluten/casein. He did need *other* foods removed, so he needed a different diet entirely. For some kids, enzymes will be sufficient and no food removals are required. > Do I just use the epson salt I buy in the grocery store or pharmacy? You can. Watch for metal content, especially if you buy in bulk. Dana
