Guest guest
That is so interesting about the aerobic vs. anaerobic issue with the tests. So, it could still be yeast. I guess the only way to know would be to try an antifungal and see what happens. I should start a protocol on that anyway as I suspect we have viral issues and bacterial issues that we need to treat. My ASDish son (the one with the 210 arabinose) was also very high in hippuric acid (sp?). We live in a 1940s home without carpeting (although we put high-quality wool carpeting in the boys' room, hmm..). Just before we did the test we became convinced that he was reacting to carpeting- he starts running repetitive circuits in this ritualistic way and tunes everyone out in a carpeted room- I can't take him to the library or community center or hardly anywhere public. He then has a huge screaming fir when we leave the place. It was very validating to read about toluene in the results section. We are realizing that Dh and I, and our older NT son, also react to carpeting. Then I realized an infuriating thing- we used to take ds to a clinic for OT, which cost us lots of money and time (I don't drive, so dh took half a day off of work every other week to take us). Avery (ASDish ds) would act so strange there, and they would say " see, he has these sensory issues " and I'm thinking that he isn't usually like that, and they're saying because I pick up his slack at home or something like that. It was a new building with industrial carpeting and he was behaving there exactly like he still does when exposed to it. They were trying to treat a chemical sensitivity with OT!! They basically made him sick then tried to treat him. And to think that after his evaluation at this clinic (general evaluation), I was warned not to waste my time and money on unproven therapies when they wasted the most time and money. Okay, I feel better- I just had to vent to people who would understand!! -Sierra > > My sons, nt 5 yr old with food allergies, arabinose was 246.
