Guest guest
Pam, Thanks for responding. Sounds like my son in allot of ways. How did you get the small private school, your choice or did diagnosis/advocate/IEP etc help you? She has been a problem to get to school since preschool. She is even in a small private school...hates it. I think one problem is that social rejection/criticism leads to depressed feelings and anxiety. This is one problem that is hard to fix. Another problem is my daughter prefers to focus on her interests and finds school so BORING ...everything gets boring quickly. My daughter loves to add to collections and read about her interests, stop her and she is EXPLOSIVE. I have a behavior plan in place, if she hits me after school, no computer for that night. And if she hits again ..no TV ...she is old enough to go to her room and draw or something. When she was younger I didn't dare take away TV otherwise she would be all over me (aggressive). I think there is some dopamine issues (either not enough and feels bored or perhaps too much and easily explosive). Zoloft helped reduce anxiety alittle. I am still trying to figure out what medication will help with this issue of extreme stress/boredom followed by explosive behavior at me. I don't have any school solutions.
