Guest guest
I wouldn't be posting this if I didn't think someone might benefit from the info- I almost screwed up my taxes if I didn't spend half the week trying to figure this out. I used to have Citi Residential Lending and it was bought by another mortgage company last year- so if you have the same situation- read on, as this applies to you! Ok, so my mortgage company, Citi Residential Lending was bought by American Home Servicing, Inc in February 2009. My account at AHSI shows payments dating back to October 2008! So, at first I assumed my year end statement I use for interest would include the whole year, but it did not add up to my payments on interest! So, I tried looking up my account online- their website is DEAD!!! I pulled my last bill out (feb. 2008), and their phone number is DISCONNECTED! So, I tried calling my new mortgage company AHSI and after a half hour one day of talking to an idiot, and a forty minutes the next day talking to an idiot, all I had was the same exact information that I stated with! So, I sent an e-mail to the company, and low and behold an intelligent human being e-mailed me back. So, here is the info for anyone who needs it. If your Citi Residential Lending mortgage was bought by AHSI, the AHSI year end mortgage statement (available online right now) only includes from the day they bought it until the end of the year. Any late fees you paid are included as interest and marked payments applied to previously deferred interest. So, if you are impatient (like me), and don't want to wait for the CITI paper- the intelligent person gave me their number - that was NOT DISCONNECTED!!! yeah!! It is 1-800-667-8424 and if you put in your old account number and the last 4 digits of the primary account holder it will tell you your year end interest!!!!!! As a side note, any house insurance or property taxes paid through CITI will not be on the AHSI paper. If you work for a tax place here in town- or know someone who does- If they come in with a American Home Servicing Inc mortgage statement, ask them if they had a Citi Residential Lending mortgage that was bought by American Home. They NEED that form. My interest paid difference was over $3000 and that WILL make a difference on your taxes! Good Luck!
