REGARDING TOPICAL MEDICATIONS THAT " STOP " WORKING

It is a very interesting point that you have found that Dovonex, Steroid

creams etc eventually stop working.

I have had long discussions with my Dermatologist, who I have known for 15-20

years, long before I began to suffer from P and PA. He explained that after

a variable time period all of the topical medications seem to " stop " working.

He has advised me to periodically rotate the medications, switching from

Dovonex to Elocon for a few weeks and then back. Also, he suggested using

one in the AM and the other in the PM so that I would not get steroid related

skin changes.

It is also possible to get " rebound " if one medication is used too long.

I have found that GENTLE debridement of the areas of Psoriasis with a DOBIE

brand kitchen scrubber pad AFTER sitting and soaking in a hot bath can help

in getting rid of the heavy accumulation of scale and then applying the

medication of choice to the P lesions has helped me SIGNIFICANTLY in reducing

the P lesions.

GOOD LUCK

Steve
