Guest guest
Hi All I recall a rather interesting encounter, while attending my Haematology appointment. The man sitting next to me asked my why I was here and we started chatting. It turned out that he has " Pernicious Anaemia " due to malabsorption of the stomach of vitamin B12. Therefore he comes to the Haematologist who checks his blood and injects him with 200ml of Vitamin B12. However, he was complaining as after his injection today, he would be flying for the first week. The second week he would be slowing down, come the third week he would be even slower and by the fourth week, well he would have no energy. Then he would have to make the eighty mile round trip, with his wife, in order to get another injection of Vitamin B12. In fact he was late today due to traffic, so had to make his own way from the Haematologist PRIVATE Clinic and join us in the free clinic, apparently it was a long walk! He then took a wad of notes from his pocket, which was payment for this treatment. Now they were both retired, I would say early seventies and I must admit my heart went out to him. The brain started thinking and I said, " Surely you could have vitamin B12 injections from you GP? Perhaps he would even give you 40ml per week, which would perhaps stop the peaks and troughs? " The man looked at me and said, " Do you think I could do that? " I replied, " Well when you see the haematologist, why not ask her? " On the way out of the hospital this man came walking across the car park towards me, with a big smile on his face. He mentioned this to the Haematologist, who told him he could see his local GP for his B12 injections, and his GP would do it for FREE! He then said, " So why have I been coming all the way here for five long years and spending all this money? " I had no answer! Love and God Bless Gillian
Guest guest
Hi Gillian my name is michael a newby. If your perniscious anaemia persons ate mildly cooked animals liver it would also help. Before B12 injections that was the only source. love michael w The great events of world history are profoundly unimportant. The essential thing is the life of the individual. http://www.igrin.co.nz/~mcwarr
