Guest guest
My daughter has AS and social anxiety. She panics in groups. This has been one of the main reasons for school refusal. She has been out of school since March and then on home instruction and now refusing to try a private school. I have always read that AS kids don't do well in therapy (Attwoods books). Yet many anxiety experts are willing to try. I am spending so much money on out of network anxiety experts. Is it worth the money, time and effort? She says she hates talking about her feeling with them. I have not seen any results. I have started her on zoloft for anxiety and panic. It may take months to see a lowering of anxiety. I don't know how she will tolerate increasing doses. I know she is only comfotable 1:1 with peers. So I am hoping the medication will at least lower anxiety. How in the world is cognitive therapy going to help an AS child overcome social issues. Has anyone had a successful treatment plan for anxiety in AS children?
