Guest guest
I have no scientific reason behind trying the diet. I just felt it couldn't hurt and might help. Good luck to you. Guest guest
Dear Mari, I meant to write before, but I have been slow at replying mail, so sorry about it. I think it is a universally known that sugar and salt are not good for cancers and other conditions, so cutting that off your diet will help the body. There have been cases of people with cancer that were given few months to live and continued to live for 10 years following a rigourous diet. Dr. Nicolas from New York was given Goverment funding for trials with pancreatic cancer for his diet and enzimes treatment, the trials I think are getting to the end. With CLL we do not know, but I know people with stable CLL that have followed a Gerson diet, it is very hard and help is needed. I do not follow a diet as such, but do not eat sugar or salt, no wheat produces or process food, also very little dairy produce, use goat milk for some desserts, all freshly made, lots of vegetables, and sometimes I do juicing and detox. It might not make any different with the CLL, but it makes me feel well, so no reason to change things, specially as I do not enjoy process food and I do not like junk food. I do eat meat as my Hb is on the low side, so I do all I can to keep it from going down. I also buy as much organic fruit and veg as I can get as well as other product, for instance I have for breakfast porridge oats with banana, all organic, and a pot of green tea. Guest guest
Thank you so much, Chonette. I've been dallying with diet for awhile, and mostly manage to just make sure I have organic food (which luckily I have access to); I've heard about sugar and wheat and need to take that step since I do feel much better when I don't eat those foods. In general, I appreciate the idea of detoxing, since from little I know, I've begun feel that anythiing that induces inflammation is likely to promote b-cell production. Do you also do skin brushing and steams? My Hb has also been a bit low and my oncologist recommended iron supplements. I take Floravita Iron; it's expensive but I saw an almost immediate improvement (from 10 to 10.5 in a few weeks), and a month or two later, have started to feel quite a bit better. Guest guest
I finally got the last of the cheese and sourdough rye out of my daughter's diet, so she's on the bare bones diet. I'd seen some improvements over the last month of using Bio-Kult and trimming down some things in her diet, but am seeing no difference at all in this last week without any cheese and sourdough. I know (now) that she had some gut issues when she was a baby, and a regression back in '99 after an antibiotic, but currently, other than slight constipation, it hasn't been clear to me how bad her gut issues might or might not be. How long should I keep her so, um, well, deprived? How long can it take to be sure any influences of the gluten or casein are gone? Or how critical is that? Or can I go ahead and try adding something back? I'm always scrambling to try to feed her a balanced diet and keeping her from being unhappy about what she's allowed to eat, and I seem to spend my life in the kitchen now :-/ Take care, Alice - HSing mom to Alice (w/DS) born Thanksgiving Day 1995 :-) Hopewell Junction, NY http://www.frontiernet.net/~castella/
Guest guest
It takes about 8 months for gluten to totally leave the system - and 2 years is what I usually hear it takes for the gut to heal completely. I just got back from the DAN conference - there was a presentation by Arthur Krigsman who showed what these poor guts can look like- http://www.thoughtfulhouse.com/0405-conf-akrigsman.htm > > I finally got the last of the cheese and sourdough rye out of my daughter's > diet, so she's on the bare bones diet.
