Guest guest
After having spent over two years trying to get a serious water leak repaired in our apartment, and just when we thought the intrusion of waste water from upstairs was finally at an end, I was awakened at 7:00 am this morning by the sound of water splattering in our bathroom. I got up to look and lo and behold, a new hole had broken open in our bathroom ceiling just about 2 inches from the original hole and water was pouring down. A knock on the door produced two firemen who informed us that our upstairs neighbor had a broken water pipe. Water was also pouring down in our hallway through a ceiling vent onto the hall carpeting. One of the firemen advised me to call the Building Code Enforcement Office. I had already done that several times with no results. My thought is that if the ceiling were sound, this new hole never would have appeared and the water would have remained between the upstairs floor and the downstairs ceiling. Something must have been eating at our bathroom ceiling for a long time, now. And the black mold problem has never been cleared up and most likely is spreading and gaining strength and will continue to sicken us. Meantime, I have to find a good lawyer and don't know where to start looking in this area. Guess I'll be on the phone for a good part of the day tomorrow.
