Guest guest
I have gotten emails about Mold Legislation by Rep. Conyers. I have been unable to find a copy of the proposed legislation. I have found statements that it is only a beginning and needs more work. Before offering support for any proposed Legislation, organizations or issues, I like to see what I am being asked to support. I think all want to see what they are being asked to sign on to. It is for that reason that I sent the following letter to Rep. Conyers. I had asked his staff for a copy but one was never sent. Perhaps he will authorize a copy to be sent. I also provided him information on the legislation I have proposed. Perhaps there are parts or sections of mine that might be included as an addition to his. As we are all aware, nobody has all the answers on this issue. Whatever Legislation comes before Congress must be a joint effort by Congress and, but more importantly, by those of us whose familles are infected by this mold. When I receive a copy I will try and find a way of getting it out to whoever wants to read it. Ken May 9, 2002 Rep. Conyers, Jr. 2426 Rayburn House Office Building Washington, DC 20515 Fax: 202-225-0072 Dear Congressman Conyers; I have been informed that you have written a Mold Protection Law for America. I, and many other Americans, want to thank you for your work on this issue. I have not been able to find a copy of your proposed Legislation on any internet or Government web sites. Would you please send me a copy by either mail or e-mail or inform me where I might find it on the internet? I would like to be able to review your Legislation to see what you are calling for. Some months ago, I submitted Mold Legislation to some In Washington. I am enclosing my Legislation for your review. I also have this bill, modified for specific states, in Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island and Florida. What I included in my Legislation are fines and penalties for those that would knowingly allow conditions for toxic mold. They must be held accountable just as Congress held the tobacco companies liable. For your review, I am including a segment of our story. This is for background information only. Should I feel that your Legislation is what will best help Americans suffering by mold, I will then offer support for your Legislation and release you to use our story. I am also sending a few letters that involve the EPA. One is mine in response to the EPA letter, another is from the White House and the last is from a Senate Colleague Senator Kennedy. I await a copy of your Legislation and again thank you for your efforts to help Americans battle mold.
